Introduction II

Orange City, FL.

I started this blog, and now I really don't have much to write about. I'm sitting here at the Orange City RV Resort, and it's pretty quiet.

I guess I could tell you a little about how we travel. We usually don't travel more that 3 or 4 hours a day. We leave a Campground around 10 AM and by 1 or 2 PM we are pulling into the next stop. We usually don't stay in Campgrounds with all the "bells and whistles", as they are usually more expensive, and Jim and Linda don't use all that stuff anyway. We always stay in State, National, COE, or City parks when they are available. Sometimes we boon dock, but being that we stop early in the afternoon, we don't stay in parking lots.

I tow a 1996 Nissan pickup truck that I have named "CLT" (Cute Little Truck). She is a nice little truck and doesn't give me much grief as I tow her around the country. Jim and Linda use her to go to the store and to see the sights in whatever area we happen to be in.

We usually winter down here in Florida. The weather is usually nice and Jim and Linda have a daughter that lives close to this park. Durning the summer, we head North, ususally back up to Illinois, where Jim and Linda still have family and friends.

Introduction

Orange City, FL.

OK, let's get started on this Blog thing. I'm brand new to all of this, so I hope anyone who reads this will humor me.

Now, I know some of you are saying, "Motor homes don't have blogs", or "This blog is dumb". That's OK. I know It won't appeal to everyone, but for the last 2 1/2 years, I've been writing a journal that my owners have been sending to family members, and they seem to like it. I think this blog may be entertaining to some of you.

Speaking of owners, I was purchased by Jim and Linda in May of 2005. They are originally from Illinois and have been full-timing since June of 2001. Before me, they owned a 35 foot Winnebago Chieftain MH that they had bought in 1999. She was a cute little thing, but she didn't have the load carrying capacity that they needed, and her gas engine really didn't have the power that Jim wanted. They found me at a RV sales lot in Lakeland FL. where I had been sitting for quite a while. My previous owners could not RV any more and were forced to sell me.

I am a 40" Beaver Marquis MH and I am powered by a 325 HP CAT engine through a 4 speed Allison transmission. I have the Florentine interior in cherry and have received some very nice comments about my blue color and graphics on my exterior. I could go on and on with all my specs., but I'm sure it would be of no interest to most of you.

Now, a little about my name. It's an ancient Celtic name and the English pronunciation is Murthen. It has quite a few different meanings, some of which are:
1. The wayfarer
2. God of going high places
3. Lord of high roads.
4. Revered by those who serve the road
5. The sky god of the light and the wild air.
Now, I don't think I can really live up to any of these except maybe the first one, but then, a lot of names mean things that can't be lived up to.
