Rantoul, IL.
51 Deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 74 deg. partly cloudy, N. wind at 15 to 20mph. with 30 mph gusts.
I'm ready!!!!
The first thing that Jim did yesterday morning was to take the hose and a brush and clean my main awning. After he was done with that, he took off the sun-screen that covers my windshield and rinsed it off. Then it was my turn to get the front of me rinsed off to remove all the junk that had gotten under the sun screen while I've been parked here.
After lunch, Jim and Linda took CLT (Cute Little Truck) and headed over to the grocery store.
Now, if you remember, Jim and Linda always go to the IGA grocery store, Well, it's not an IGA any longer. It's been sold and now is a County Market grocery store. The change-over took place on the 23rd of this month.
Well anyway, Jim and Linda said that it seems that it's going to be nice, the prices are comparable to the IGA, but, they're still in the change-over process, and as of now, most of the same people are still working there. I guess it'll be next summer when we come back here before Jim and Linda really find out if they like the store or not.
After they returned and put away the groceries, Jim went out and dumped my tanks, cleaned and put away the sewer hoses, and hose supports. Then he put water in my fresh water tank and put away the water hoses and filter. and finally, he rolled up all the awnings and put away the lawn chairs and grill.
And now, I'm ready!!!!!
So, this morning, we'll be leaving here and heading to Indianapolis, Indiana, where I'll stay in a campground while Jim and Linda go and visit Linda's cousin Mike and his wife, Sandy. It's supposed to be fairly windy today with gusty north winds hitting me from the side, but it should be OK since we don't have real far to go. In fact, according to Mable, (the lady that lives inside of the GPS unit), it's only 134 miles over there.
Did you know September begins on the same day of the week as December every year? Also, no other month ends on the same day of the week as September in any year
Come-on Jim and Linda, let's get goin' !!!!

Getting CLT Ready and Packing Up
Rantoul. IL.
50 deg. clear, E. wind @ 4 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 77 deg. sunny, SW winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday morning, Jim took CLT and went to Rural King and bought a gallon of oil to replace the one he had used to change oil in my generator. From there, they went to the post office where the last mail being sent here to Rantoul was waiting for pick-up. :-) It was just about 10:00 when CLT brought Jim back here to the CG.
From laying under me, CLT's tow bar had become pretty scroungy, so Jim spent some time cleaning it up before pulling CLT around to the back of me to install it on the front of him. Once the tow bar was installed and lubricated with silicone spray, he hooked up the electric cord between me and CLT and checked out all of my and his lights.
Then, before driving CLT back to his parking spot out by the street, Jim straightened up the stuff in the back of him, and loaded up his bike.
By the time Jim was done with all of that,, Linda had one load of laundry done and was starting a second load. She also has been starting to put stuff away because after our lengthy stay here, a lot of things had been gotten out.
Linda spent a good part of the afternoon adding more of the information that she had gotten from the Rossville Historical Society to her Family Tree program. Both she and Jim took little naps, and then they went to Arby's and had a roast beef sandwich for dinner.
Today, both Jim and Linda will continue getting me and CLT ready for travel. They also need to go to the grocery store, so it'll be a busy day.
Did you know that In medieval times, left-handed people could not become knights because it was thought that they were descendants of the devil?
I sure hope Jim and Linda get everything done and we get out of here tomorrow. I don't think I can stand these itchy tires one more day!!!! :-(

Electric, Laundry, Oil and Itch
Rantoul, IL.
47 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 70 deg. partly cloudy, light northwest winds.
Even though it was kind of chilly, Jim was outside by 9:00 and was busy putting the other plug on the 30 Amp cord. It didn't take too long because if you remember, he had already cut the old plug off, so all he had to do was strip the insulation back to the required length and then attach the wires to the proper places.
After he was done with the cord, he noticed that Paul was outside, so he walked over and talked to him for an hour or so.
By the time he returned, Linda was up, had started a load of laundry, and was eating some breakfast. Then when she was done eating, they both sat down and tried to figure out what things needed to be done before we leave here on Thursday, and when they were going to do it.
By this time, the laundry was done washing and was partially dried, so Jim went out and put up the clothes rack on my ladder. Then, he and Linda took the clothes out and hung them up to finish drying.
After that, Jim fired up my generator, ran it for about 1/2 an hour and then changed the oil in it. By the time he was done with that, and he had himself cleaned up, he decided it was nap time. :-)
For dinner, Linda heated up some ham to make sandwiches, cooked some peas for Jim (he really likes peas and she doesn't), and got out some slaw for herself. That, along with some chips made a nice meal.
The evening was spent watching TV and fooling around with the computers.
Yep, I really think we'll be leaving here on Thursday. It's a good thing too, cause my tires are itching like crazy again!!! ;-o
Did you know that it takes more than 500 peanuts to make one 12-ounce jar of peanut butter?

Nothing To Write About
Rantoul, IL.
46 deg. clear, N. wind @ 8 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 67 deg. partly cloudy, N. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
I really don't know what I'm going to write about toady. Nothing happened around here except all the weekend campers packed up and went home. They had some kind of "Auto Show" over at the airport this weekend and some of the campers here in the park were either showing cars or looking at cars over there. I don't think that the turnout at the show was very good though, we had some rain showers on Saturday and yesterday it was pretty cool and breezy, so I think it kept some people away.
As for Jim, he pretty much just watched football most of the day and Linda spent quite a bit of time on the computer putting that new information about her family into her family tree program.
Oh, Jim did spend about an hour taking the garbage down to the dumpster. No, the dumpster isn't far away. In fact I can see it from my site, but it always seems like Jim finds someone to stop and talk to when he goes down there, so it takes him a long time. ;-)
Today, I don't think there's anything planned. I do know that Jim wants to put the other end on that 30 Amp electric cord and test it. I also heard him say something about running my generator and possibly changing the oil in it, but he may wait on the oil change for awhile yet. He also needs to make sure all of my fluid levels are OK, and will probably check my tires again. And, sometime in the next few days, he needs to put CLT's tow bar back on the front of him, (it's laying on wooden blocks under me right now), so that he'll be ready to be hooked to the rear of me when we leave here on Thursday.
Oh, didn't I tell you? Yep, Thursday's the day we'll be leaving here to start heading for Joe and Nancy's house in Virginia Beach.
Of course that's only if Jim and Linda don't come up with a "Plan E"! :-)
No really, I'm pretty confident that we'll be leaving here Thursday, since Linda has already called Joe and told him that we would be arriving on or about the 6th of October.
Well, I guess I'd better wrap this up. Like I said, I really don't have anything to write about.
Did you know that today is Ancestor Appreciation Day?
Hmmmm, Linda will be interested in that. :-)

The Rossville Historical Society and A Walk Through The Cemetery
Rantoul, IL.
52 deg. overcast, N. wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 63 deg. mostly cloudy, 50% chance of showers, NE wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
Ahhhh!!! It was a nice day yesterday. No strong winds, no 90+ temperatures, no high humidity. Just a good old September day with temperatures in the mid 70's, sunshine most of the day, and light winds.
Ahhhhhhh!!!
It was about 10:30 when CLT pulled out of the campground to take Jim and Linda, first to the post office, and then to the Historical Society over in Rossville, IL. After checking, the lady at the post office gave Jim a small package. It was the new ends for the electric cords that Jim had ordered, so now he can finish the repairs of those 30 Amp electric cords. From the post office, they headed over to Rossville, IL. (about 30 miles East of here), to see if Linda could find out any more about her ancestors who used to live in that area.
Like I said yesterday, Linda had talked to the lady at the Historical Society and made an appointment. She also got the address and so before they headed over there, Jim put the address in the GPS, and Mable, (the little lady that lives inside of the GPS), directed them right to the front door. :-)
Once there, they met Eva Neeland, who is one of the volunteers that oversees the Historical Society.
She is a very nice lady and very helpful. In fact, she had already done some research on the names that Linda had given her over the phone and had found much of the information that Linda was looking for. :-)
After spending a couple of hours at the Historical Society, they headed back to the Rossville Cemetery to once again try to find those grave sites that they had looked for a week or so ago. Since the last time, Linda had talked to her sister, Nancy, and she had given Linda a better idea of where they were, so Jim started walking through the area, and sure enough, he found them. :-)
By this time, both Jim and Linda were getting hungry, so they headed to the Merita's Family Restaurant, on the South edge of Rossville, and had lunch.
It was about 3:00 by the time CLT brought them back here. Linda was very happy because she had found a lot of the information that she was missing for her family tree, and they had finally found the grave sites that she had been looking for. :-)
The rest of the day was spent taking naps, watching TV and just doing normal things. Oh, and of course, Linda started putting some of the information that she had found into her family tree program.
Did you know that one of the most famous haunted cemeteries in the midwest, Greenwood Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois, is the site of numerous ghost stories and legends? The Civil War section is the most famous, said to be haunted by the ghosts of Confederate prisoners.

More About The Wind and Electric Cords
Rantoul, IL.
51 deg. clear, NW wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 68 deg. increasing clouds with a 20% chance of afternoon showers, N. winds @ 5 to 10 mph, rain likely tonight.
We had wind speeds of 24 mph yesterday with gusts of 35 mph. so it indeed was another windy day. The wind has finally died down now though. They're also forecasting more "seasonal" temperatures for the next 5 days. :-)
I know I've griped about the wind a lot, but it hasn't been good for some of the farmers in the area either. Yesterday on the local news, they were saying that the wind had blown down some of the crops that are still in the fields. If those crops are laying down, it will be impossible for the combines to pick it up and harvest it. :-(
Yesterday afternoon, CLT (Cute Little Truck), took Jim and Linda down to Champaign and to the Menards store. Jim was looking for a couple of replacement male plug ends for the 30 Amp extension cords that he uses to hook me up to the electric when there is only 30 Amp service available. You see, through the years, the plug ends of the cords have become damaged from bad electrical outlets in the campground boxes, and just normal use, (one of the cords is over 10 years old), so he either needed to replace the ends on the cords or throw them away and buy new cords.
Well, except for the ends, the cords are fine, and Jim is not one to throw away something that can be repaired, so he found the new male ends at Menards. Also because he knew that he couldn't find the female ends at a place like Menards or Home Depot, he ordered a couple of them from Lawrence RV Accessories Inc. the other day, and he's hoping that they will be coming in the mail in the next couple of days.
On the way back from Champaign, Jim and Linda started thinking about what they were going to have for dinner. Jim said that he thought chicken sounded good, so they stopped by KFC and brought some back here.
Once back here, Jim got out one of the extension cords, (the one in the worst condition), and cut both ends off of it. Then he installed one of the new male ends that he had just bought. Now when the female ends arrive, he'll install one of them on the other end of the cord, and it'll be ready to use when we get to a park where they only have 30 Amp service. :-)
The other day, Linda called the Historical Society over in Rossville, and made an appointment to go over there and go through their records to try to find more information about her family members that lived in that area years ago. Well, the appointment is for today, so CLT will be taking Linda and Jim over there later this morning. I'm really expecting that they'll be gone a good part of the afternoon too.
Oh, I know some of you are really concerned about my itchy tire condition. Well, I'm managing, and I'm trying to ignore it as much as possible, but I think it's getting worse again as we get closer to our "Plan D" departure date. :-(
Did you know that today is "Fish Amnesty Day"?

Strong Winds Again, and Drain And Flush
Rantoul, IL.
76 deg. mostly cloudy, wind out of the SW and 22 mph with gusts up to 32 mph.
forecast today = high temp. 78 deg. mostly cloudy, with showers in the morning then sunny in the afternoon. W. wind @ 15 to 20 mph w/30 mph gusts.
AAAKKKKKK!!!! I am really tired of this wind!!!!! The wind blew hard all day yesterday, (gusts over 40mph), and even though there's a cold front coming through, (more than likely this morning), it's still supposed to be windy for the rest of today too!!!! On top of that, yesterday we were very close to the record high of 92 deg. and now they're forecasting a low tonight in the 40's!!!!!!
Jim had shut off my water heater on Wednesday, so he went out early yesterday morning and drained and flushed it while it was cool. There really wasn't too much "junk" in the tank, but it was good to get it flushed out.
The rest of the day was spent inside, fooling around with the computers, reading, taking a nap and watching TV, while Linda worked on her current embroidery project, got the budget caught up, took a nap and watched TV.
For dinner, Linda put together a nice meal of left-over steak, cauliflower and potatoes.
Oh, and the city workers were here in the park again yesterday, cutting down more ash trees. I don't know if they're done or not, because they're working way over at the North end of the park, and I can't see them very well from my site.
Did you know that September is "National Mushroom Month"?

A Trip To Plainfield
Rantoul, IL.
65 deg. clear, SE wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 92 deg. mostly sunny, S. winds @ 10 to 15, increasing to 20 to 25 mph this afternoon.
Well, today is the first day of Fall, but it sure doesn't feel like it here in Illinois. It's possible that we'll have record high temperatures today, along with possible wind gusts of 30 or 35 mph!!!!! :-(
It was raining yesterday morning as CLT pulled out of the campground to take Jim and Linda up to Plainfield, IL, to see Linda's sister, Nancy. CLT said that they had rain for about the first 25 miles, but then it cleared and they had good driving conditions for the rest of the way. It was about 8:30 when they left here and CLT says that he made it up there by just a little after 11:00, covering the 117 miles in just over 2 1/2 hours.
CLT said that he didn't think that I would have liked it up there in Plainfield. He said that there were cars everywhere, the roads were really crowded, and everyone seemed like they were in a big hurry to get someplace.
It was about 6:30 when CLT pulled back into his parking space in front of me. He said that he had a good trip, and he thought that Jim and Linda really enjoyed visiting with Nancy and going out to eat with her, David, and David's nurse.
After they got back, Jim and Linda watched TV and then went to bed after the news.
What did I do all day, you ask? Well, I just sat here and watched the city workers cut down some more ash trees. :-( I think that they still have more to cut down, so I imagine they'll be back again today.
Did you know that the adult emerald ash borer emerges in May-July and the female lays numerous eggs in bark crevaces and between layers of bark? The eggs hatch in 7-10 days and larvae bore into the tree where they chew the inner bark and phloem creating winding galleries as they feed. This cuts off the flow of the water and nutrients in the tree, causing dieback and death.

The Emerald Ash Borer
Rantoul, IL
64 Deg. cloudy, no wind
Forecast today = high temp. 83 deg. mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and t-storms.
The emerald ash borer has invaded Prairie Pines CG. There are at least 12 trees in this park that are being cut down and burnt, and many more are believed to be infected with the insect within the city of Rantoul. It was first found in a trap in a tree at the northern end of the CG and then after further inspection, was found in a few other ash trees also.
It's really too bad, as this park is losing some very nice shade trees and even if the city does plant new trees, (which I seriously doubt), it will be many, many years before they are large enough to provide any shade.
It got up to about 94 deg. here again yesterday, so not much happened. Jim did a few things in the morning, but then stayed in most of the afternoon.
Today, CLT (Cute Little Truck), is going to take Jim and Linda up to Plainfield, IL. to visit Linda's sister, Nancy. It's about 120 miles up there, so I imagine that they'll be leaving here fairly early, and won't be back until sometime later this evening.
So, what will I be doing while they're gone? Well, if the weather is good, (we had some t-storms last night), I'll watch the city workers cut down some more ash trees. Yesterday, they cut down one in the site where I had stayed for the last 3 or 4 years, which is right across the street from my current site, and I got to watch the whole process.
Like I said earlier, it's such a shame. That site now has absolutely no shade at all. I know it's sometimes convenient to carry firewood with you as you travel, but please don't continue doing it. This is one of the ways this insect travels from one part of the country to another.
Did you know that the Emerald Ash Borer has killed nearly 30 million ash trees? Losses are estimated in the tens of millions of dollars.

It's Not Supposed To Be This Hot
Rantoul, IL.
65 deg. clear, SE wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 92 deg. Sunny and unseasonably warm. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 25 mph.
It's not supposed to be this hot, this late in September, in Illinois!!! It was over 90 yesterday, and as you can see above, they're forecasting temps back up there again today!! And that's not the end of it, Wednesday and Thursday are supposed to be almost as hot too!!!! :-(
Not a whole lot happening around here. A few RVs have come into the park, but most of them leave again in the morning. Jim went over to Rural King to look for a replacement male plug for the end of one of his 30 Amp electric cords, but didn't find one. Then went to the post office to pick up the mail and stopped at the IGA grocery store to pick up a few items.
How is my itchy tire condition? Well, thank you for asking. It seems to have calmed down a little and I'm able to ignore it most of the time. I do seem to have spells though, mostly when I see other RVs pulling out of the park.
Well, I had better end this post for now. I'm starting to just ramble on, and I don't want to bore you.
Maybe something interesting will happen today. ;-)
Did you know that a dragonfly flaps its wings 20 to 40 times a second, bees and houseflies 200 times, some mosquitoes 600 times, and a tiny gnat 1,000 times?

The "It Factor" Day
Rantoul, IL.
63 deg. Overcast, E. wind @ 4 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 83 deg. decreasing clouds, light SE winds.
You know how people talk about a campground having the "it factor"? It's nothing you can really describe, it's just a feeling you get, and it's not the same for everyone.
Well, I think some days have something like the "it factor" too.
Yesterday was like that for me.
By noon, all the weekend RVs that had come into the park had left again, the temperature was in the upper 70's with fairly low humidity, there was a light breeze blowing, and it was very quiet. Oh, there were a couple of birds chirping, a squirrel running around under the trees in the site next to me and there was the hum of a farmer combining beans in a field way over on the other side of the campground, but all of that just seemed to add to the feeling.
As I was sitting here taking it all in, all of a sudden it felt like I didn't have a care in the world! My tires had stopped itching, I didn't have any problems or worries, I wasn't uncomfortable in any way, and it seemed like everything was at peace.
In my experience, these days don't come around real often, and you have to watch for them and be ready to enjoy them when they do happen. I also think that days like that are what keeps us going when we have days where nothing seems to be going right. The memories of them sit in the back of our minds and they are so good that we're able to get through those difficult days so that we can look forward to enjoying the next "it factor" day. :-)

A Birthday Present, Saying So-long, and Dinner
Rantoul, IL.
60 deg. cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 79 deg. mostly cloudy with scattered showers and t-storms, light NW winds.
Wow!!!! What a day it was for Jim yesterday!!!! It started out early, when Cindy and Ken found out that it was his birthday, and tried to figure out what they could give his as a present. Well, of course they weren't prepared so they had to improvise!
Well, this is what they came up with!!!
A can of beer with birthday candles taped onto it!!!! And, they had the candles lit as they came out of their MH to give it to him!!! What a great idea!!!!! Everyone got a kick out of if!!! :-)
But, the fun could only last so long, as Ken and Cindy had to get going. Before they did though, Jim took this photo of Linda, Ken, Cindy and Sox and Ditka, standing next to their MH, just before they left.
Then, we all looked on as they pulled out of their site and headed out of the CG. :-(
Wow!!! What good friends Ken, Cindy and their MH have become. We'll really miss them and are looking forward to the next time we meet up with them again.
The afternoon was spent taking naps, helping Paul and Louise move a couch out of their 5th wheel and move a new recliner into it, and then getting ready to head down to Champaign for dinner.
You see, Jim and Linda don't usually buy each other presents for their birthdays any more. Oh, maybe a card or something like that, but unless it's something small that the other person really wants, the presents really don't seem necessary any longer. What they usually do, is to go out for a nice dinner someplace.
In this case, Jim decided that he would like to go to the Lone Star Steakhouse, so a little before 5:00 they took CLT (Cute Little Truck), and headed down there.
By all accounts, they had a very nice meal and the food was very good. :-)
The evening was spent watching TV until bedtime.
Oh, thanks to all who took time to post the nice comments on yesterday's blog. It's really nice to know that people like what you're doing. And of course Jim wants to thank all the folks who wished him a happy birthday too. :-)

A Surprise Visit and Thanks
Rantoul, IL.
55 deg. overcast, SE wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. partly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers, light SW winds.
Jim went for a ride on his bike yesterday morning. It had been quite awhile since he had taken it for a ride, and he said that it felt like it had been years. It's amazing how out of shape you can get in just a short time. :-(
I had a great surprise yesterday. About 2:30 or so, I saw this familiar Motorhome pull up in front of my site, and in just a few seconds, I realized that it was Ken and Cindy and their Cross Country MH!!!! They were on their way back from the Escapade in Indiana and decided to stop back here at Prairie Pines for the night. I think that they were just as surprised to see me sitting here because when they left here about a week ago, we were getting ready to leave too!
Of course that was before Jim and Linda decided to go to Plan "D" and stay here for awhile longer. :-)
So,,,, they're parked back in the same site, right next to me, and yesterday afternoon and evening, they all sat outside under my awning and talked and talked and talked. Oh Jim and Ken, did take time out to take CLT and go over to Monical's Pizza to pick up a couple of pizzas to bring back here to eat at the picnic table on my site.
Again, it was good friends, good conversation and good food. What more could you ask for?
Ken and Cindy will be leaving here fairly early this morning. They need to get back because their oldest son is getting married soon, and there's lots of preparations yet to do.
I'm sure glad that they stopped here at the CG though. It was really great to see them again. :-)
I'd like to take a moment to thank all of the people who are following this blog. It means a lot to me to know that so many of you are interested in my day-to-day living and adventures. Also, a thanks to the folks who post comments from time to time. I'm always happy to get them. :-)
Thank You!

They Did It Again and Aliens??
Rantoul, IL.
50 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. possible fog this morning then sunny with light easterly winds.
They did it again!! Yep, once again, Jim and Lind went to the grocery store and bought more groceries than would easily fit into my cabinets and refrigerator!
I couldn't believe it when they just kept carrying bag after bag of groceries into me, and then when I found out how much refrigerator and /freezer stuff they had bought, I just knew there was going to be trouble! :-(
You'd think they'd learn, but no!! They almost always do it!!!!
Other than grocery shopping and then trying to get it all put away when they got back, not much happened around here. Jim and Linda did a little house cleaning, Jim changed the water filter under my kitchen sink, took the garbage to the dumpster and they both took little naps.
OH, I have to tell you what happened last night!!!!
It was about 8:30 or 9:00 and I was just sitting here minding my own business, when all of a sudden, there's these very bright lights coming at me from my left!!! They weren't moving very fast and they appeared to be quite a ways away, but they kept getting closer and closer!!!! As they got closer I heard this roaring sound and it got louder as the lights got closer to me!!!!
I didn't know what was going on, and I thought we might be under attack from a space ship or something!!!!!! :-O
Well, when the lights got pretty close, they turned to the right, and I couldn't see them any more, but I could still hear the roaring sound!!
It was then that I realized that the lights were on a combine and the farmer was out there in the field next to the campground, harvesting the corn!!!
Whew!!! What a relief!!!! No Aliens!!!!
I guess that when the crop is ready, it's important that it gets harvested as soon as possible, but I never thought they'd be out there that late. Jim however, knew that farmers did this, and said that many years ago when he worked on a farm, he and the farmer worked late into the nights to get the crops out of the fields.
Well anyway, after my oil pump quit pounding and I settled down, I watched the beautiful night sky for awhile, thankful that my owners are full-timers and I get to learn all about the people, places, and the things that happen as we travel across the country.
A full-time RVs life is a good life. ;-)
Did you know that Indians in the Americas were growing corn extensively long before the discovery of these continents by Europeans? Archaeological studies indicate that corn was cultivated in the Americas at least 5600 years ago. The exact origin of corn is unknown as the plant is found only under cultivation. The probable center off origin is the Central American and Mexico region.

New Friends, Batteries and Other Stuff
Rantoul, IL.
67 deg. cloudy, SW wind @ 9 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 75 deg. mostly cloudy, W. wind @ 15 to 20 mph.
The only thing that happened Tuesday was that CLT (Cute Little Truck), took Jim and Linda down to the Hobby Lobby store in Champaign so Linda could look for more handy-work projects. She bought some when they went to Hancock fabrics a few days ago, but they were out of a lot of the embroidery items that she really likes to do.
So anyway, they left here a little after noon and were back here by about 2:00 with a whole bag of embroidery stuff. :-)
Oh, I want to tell you about the nice couple and their Pace Arrow motorhome that was parked next to me for a couple of days. The couple's names were Sam and Donna, and they are from Oregon. Sam's father was originally from Illinois, but Sam had never been to the Mid-West, and was here to try to find some information about his father at the genealogy society over in Danville, IL.
He found not only information about his father, but also found out that his father had two more brothers that he didn't know about.
Like I said, they were a nice couple and Jim talked to them from time to time while they were here. During the talks, Sam and Donna gave Jim one of their friendship cards and invited Jim, Linda and me to look them up if we ever got to the Bend area of Oregon. They even said that I would be welcome at their home and they have a 30 Amp outlet that I could plug in to.
Wow!!! That was really nice of them! :-) Maybe we can look them up sometime when we're in Oregon to visit Jeff!!
After Sam and Donna left yesterday morning, Jim decided that he was going to service all of my batteries, so he got out all the stuff he needed and proceeded to fill them with distilled water, check all of the connections and then finally spray them with some battery cleaner stuff that he had bought and then hose them off.
By the time he was done with the batteries, it was lunch time, and then nap time. ;-)
Linda still hasn't been feeling very well. Her allergies are still really bothering her, so again, she stayed inside, did a load of laundry, worked on her projects and played with the computer.
After Jim woke up from his nap, he went out and dumped and flushed my tanks and put some stuff away as they were forecasting rain and possible t-storms for last night. We did get some rain, and a little lightning way off in the distance, but no storms.
For dinner, Jim and Linda took CLT and went over to Long John Silver's. Then after they got back, they watched TV until bedtime.
Did you know that on this day in 1893, the largest land run in history began with more than 100,000 people pouring into the Cherokee Strip of Oklahoma to claim valuable land that had once belonged to Native Americans? With a single shot from a pistol the mad dash began, and land-hungry pioneers on horseback and in carriages raced forward to stake their claims to the best acres.
Have a safe trip back to Oregon, Sam and Donna. :-)

Comments and Allergies
Rantoul, IL.
63 deg. clear, E wind @ 5 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 79 deg. partly sunny, 20% chance of showers, light east winds.
In reply to a couple of comments that I got yesterday about the corn harvest this year, the corn is ready earlier because the farmers were able to get into the fields to plant their crops very early this spring. As far as crop loss because of the extreme heat this year, the USDA is estimating that there will be about a 6 bushel per acre loss in Illinois.
All in all, the crops right around here are looking pretty good, but like most years, there are spots in Illinois where the crops did not do well.
Neither Jim or Linda were feeling too well yesterday. (Their allergies have been really bad because at this time of year, there's lots of pollen flying around), so, they didn't get much done around here. Jim went with Paul to get his pick-up out of the repair shop, talked to the neighbors for awhile, took a nap, and then took Linda out to eat at the Village Garden Restaurant in Fisher last night.
Linda spent most of the day inside, with my AC running, to try to keep away from the pollen as much as possible, worked on her embroidery project, and watched some TV between naps.
It was very windy yesterday, but today they are forecasting very light winds, so maybe there won't be so much pollen in the air and they can get some things done.
Did you know that Farmers are more than twice as likely to die on the job as police officers and nearly four times as likely to be killed on the job as firefighters?
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
63 deg. clear, E wind @ 5 mph.
Fall Is Coming
Rantoul, IL.
61 deg. clear, SW wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 85 deg, sunny, W. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Fall is coming! How do I know, you ask? Well, there are signs.
There are fields across the road from this campground and the farmers have been out there harvesting the corn.
In just a short time, they'll also be harvesting these beans.
Louise has her fall decorations out.
And, a few trees are just starting to turn.
Also, the robins have all headed South, the amount of daylight is getting less and less, the days and nights are cooler, and soon all the trees will be showing their fall colors.
I like Fall. :-)
Not much happened here yesterday. Jim got out some carpet spray stuff and worked on a few spots on my carpet. I'm sure glad that the weather was nice and Jim and Linda were able to open my door and windows cause that stuff sure was stinky! The biggest stain came when the water line to my ice maker leaked and soaked the carpet in front of the ice maker. A lot of it came out, but you can still see it. :-(
A lot of the day was spent watching football on TV. Jim and Linda are still Bears fans, (being that they are both originally from Illinois), and enjoy watching them play.
For dinner, Jim cooked a large steak out on the grill, that they shared, and Linda cooked asparagus and potatoes inside. Again, it sure smelled good. :-)
Did you know that America has almost one billion farmland acres?

Plan "D"? Furnace Repair and Light Problems Solved
Rantoul, IL.
55 deg. clear, W. wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. sunny, W. wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
Well, Jim has his big eraser out and is changing things again!!! We're now up to Plan "D"!!!!!
Plan, "A" was to leave here on the 13th of September and head from Rantoul to Apex, NC to see Mike, go to VA Beach, VA to see Joe and stop by Anna's in Beaufort, SC on the way to an arrival in Fl. on the 15th of November.
Plan "B" was pretty much the same except we would go to Virgina Beach before Apex, and then head down to SC and to FL. Still getting there on the 15th of November.
Then came plan "C". This plan was like plan "B" except that before going to VA Beach, we would go to Maryland, Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Then, head to Apex, Beaufort , and down to FL.
All of these plans would get us to our destination in FL on or before the 15th of November so that we could get a better campground rate.
OK, so what happened to make it necessary to implement a Plan "D"?
Well, there's a couple of reasons. First, the weather in Illinois this summer has been really crazy. Lots of rain earlier and then very hot later on in the summer. So.......Jim and Linda didn't get to do a lot of the things that they wanted to do, like go to different cemeteries in the area and check the grave stones for dates for Linda's family tree, and go up to Plainfield IL to see Linda's sister, Nancy. They also wanted to clean the carpets in me, but that didn't happen. And, there's more stuff, but you get the idea. The second reason is that Jim has been looking at tropical storms that are poised to possibly head up the East Coast. He feels that if we wait longer before we head to places like Virgina Beach or Beaufort, SC the less chance we'll have of encountering severe weather, but who really knows?
So.......What is Plan "D"? Well, after going over and talking to Louise to see if it was all right if we stayed here at Prairie Pines longer, it looks like we'll stay here until the first weekend in October, head to Virginia Beach, (no Maryland, Delaware or Eastern Shore in this plan), then to Apex, Beaufort, and finally arrive in Florida by the 1st of December. It would cost Jim and Linda a little more per month, (for two months), to park me at the RV park that we stay at down there, but they feel the benefits of staying here to try to get more things done and delaying our arrival to the East Coast out weighs the cost.
How does all of this affect me? Well, I'm concerned because my tires are already itching really bad, and now it looks like I'll have to sit here for about 3 more weeks!!!!
AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think I've said anything about it, but the other morning when it was quite chilly, Jim turned on my furnace to warm the inside of me up a little, and nothing happened!!!! No sound, no heat, nothing!! Well, Friday afternoon, he decided that he would check out the furnace, (I have a hot water Webasto furnace), and see if he could find anything wrong. After removing the cover, (not a real easy task), he started checking wire connections, and low and behold, he found a wire disconnected way back at the rear of the furnace!!! :-0 Well, he put the wire back on, came inside of me, turned the thermostat up, and,...........It started!!!! :-) The connection didn't fit together very tightly, so Jim repaired it so it wouldn't come apart again and then put everything back together.
Now I can keep everyone comfy and cozy when the temperatures drop again. :-)
He also took care of that kitchen light problem I had. You see, there was an identical light in the bedroom that Jim and Linda never use, so he just switched fixtures. If he can find a new fixture one of these days, he can purchase it and install it in the bedroom. In the meantime, Linda now has light in the kitchen to cook by. :-)
Not a whole lot happened yesterday. Jim and Linda went to CVS to buy a couple of items that they needed, but the rest of the day was pretty much a kick-back day.
Did you know that today is National Grandparent' Day?
I just have to find something to take my mind off of these itchy tires!!!!

Never Forget
Rantoul, IL
52 deg. cloudy, light rain.
Forecast today = high temp. 72 deg, mostly cloudy with showers this morning. Light westerly winds.
Never Forget
Did you remember that on September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States? Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to as 9/11, the attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters.

A Quick Lube For CLT, Cemeteries and A Root Beer
Rantoul, IL.
55 deg. clear, E wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today= high temp. 74 deg. becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of light showers, E. wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
About 8:30 yesterday morning, Jim took CLT to one of those Quick Lube places here in Rantoul and had his oil and filter changed. When they got back, Jim got out his air gauge and checked my tires and straightened out one of my basement compartments.
As soon as Linda got up and got going, (about 11:00), she and Jim hopped into CLT and headed over to Hoopeston, IL. Hoopeston is about 35 miles NE of Rantoul and it's the town where Linda was raised and lived until she went off to college. The reason for going was to see the house that she was raised in and to go out to the cemetery to visit her parents graves.
There are also the grave sites of quite a few of her other relatives there, and she wanted to visit some of them and to try to find the graves of her great grandparents. But, CLT says that even with both Linda and Jim searching, they were unsuccessful. :-(
From the cemetery, they went to a small restaurant "out along the highway", that used to be a Root Beer drive-in when Linda was young, and had a nice lunch. (Linda had a Root Beer, and a pork tenderloin sandwich just like she used to get, years ago.) :-)
After lunch, they headed South to Rossville, and to another cemetery where they tried to find the grave sites of her great grandparents on her father's side. Again, they were unsuccessful. :-(
So....... sometime in the future, they'll go back and try again. Linda's sister, Nancy, may be able to help because they know that she found the one in the Rossville cemetery a few years ago.
After leaving Rossvile, they headed down Rt. 1 to Danville and to a RV dealer that Jim knew about. You see, one of my kitchen lights has quit working and needs to be replaced, but the dealer didn't have anything that would work.
By the time they got back here to the CG, it was after 3:00 and both were worn out from tramping around in the cemeteries, so they both took little naps. ;-)
Since they had a good sized meal for lunch, Linda got some "used" pizza out of the freezer and heated it up for their evening meal. Then it was TV, computers, and embroidery again until bedtime.
Oh, for those of you that may be concerned, all of my tires are itching now, and it's getting worse every day!!!! I just hope I can stand it until we leave here Monday!!!!
ARRRRGGGG!!!!!!

They're Gone, A Little Shopping and Chinese
Rantoul, IL.
50 Deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. mostly sunny, light East winds.
They're gone :-( Yep, after a great visit, Cindy and Ken
It was sure hard to watch them drive out of the park, (they're really a great couple), but I know I'll see them again some day.
Thanks for stopping by, Ken and Cindy. Maybe next time we can spend a longer time together.
After they left, and Jim and Linda had some lunch, they took CLT, (Cute Little Truck), to a gas station and bought him a nice drink of 87 octane. Then, they headed down to Champaign because Linda wanted to go to the Hancock Fabrics store to get some sewing stuff and Jim wanted to go to Office Depot to get a new mouse for this computer. Actually this worked our really well since the stores are right next to one another.
After they got done there, Jim asked a man that was walking through the parking lot if he knew where the New Balance Shoe Store was in Urbana? (Jim was looking for a new pair of shoes and had heard about the store on a TV add.) Well, the man knew exactly where it was and gave Jim and Linda excellent instructions on how to get there the easiest way.
So......Off they went, found the store, bought Jim some new shoes, and then returned here to the park.
It was about 3:00 when CLT brought them back.
For dinner, Jim thought Chinese sounded good, so Linda called the China Express Restaurant here in Rantoul and placed an order. Then Jim and CLT went and picked it up and brought it back here. It sure smelled good and Jim and Lind both said it tasted good too.
I'll bet it's not as good as good old #2 diesel fuel though. ;-)
Did you know that on this day in 1776, the Continental Congress formally declares the name of the new nation to be the "United States" of America? This replaced the term "United Colonies," which had been in general use

They're gone :-( Yep, after a great visit, Cindy and Ken
Sox and Ditka
And their neat MH
had to leave to head up to Northern Indiana to go to the Escapade. I know they wanted to leave about 10:00 but after h and h, it was 10:40 before they left. There was so much to talk about and Jim and Ken seemed to really hit it off and just kept talking and talking. ;-)It was sure hard to watch them drive out of the park, (they're really a great couple), but I know I'll see them again some day.

Last Of The Prescriptions and I've Got Company
Ratnoul, IL.
50 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. sunny, NW wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
A little after lunch, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed to Walgreen's to pick up that last prescription. While they were there, they also picked up a few other items like bread and milk so that they didn't have to make another stop.
Once back here, Linda baked some brownies for desert and Jim took a little nap.
About 4:30 or so, I saw this Cross Country MH pulling a jeep pull into the CG, and sure enough, it was Ken and Cindy coming to visit. :-)
After h and h, they checked in with Louise in the office and then Paul led them to the site right next to me. Once they got set up, everyone sat outside and talked. After they had talked for awhile, it was decided that Jim would cook some brats, that Ken and Cindy had brought, on his grill and Linda would make a green bean casserole to go with them. Cindy also had brought a fruit salad and some chips, and once the brats were done, everyone came inside of me and had a very nice meal with great conversation. :-)
I think that they would have liked to eat outside, but yesterday was another windy day and they would have had problems with everything blowing away. :-(
After dinner, they all sat and talked until about 9:30 when Ken and Cindy left to walk their neat dogs, (Sox and Ditka), and get get some rest, as this had been a long day for them.
This morning, they'll be leaving to head up to an Escapade in Indiana. I sure wish they could stay longer, but I've found out that they are planning on going to the RV Dreams Rally in TN. next spring, so I'm hoping we'll see them and their MH there.

Wind, Wind And More Wind, and Company's Comming
Rantoul, IL.
70 deg. clear, SW wind @ 10 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. mostly sunny, W. wind @ 20 to 25 mph with gusts @ 30 to 15 mph.
Wind, wind, wind. I don't ever remember so many windy days here in Rantoul as we are having this summer. I though it was windy yesterday, but they are forecasting even stronger winds today!!!! Thankfully they are saying, on TV, that tomorrow they should die down.
Being that it was so windy, Jim didn't do a whole lot outside again. He did manage to dump my tanks and do a few other little chores. Then in the afternoon, he and Linda spent some time picking up and putting away stuff and doing a little cleaning inside of me.
You see, if you check the comments on yesterday's post, we're getting company!!! Ken and Cindy are going to be coming today to see me and to spend the night here at the Campground. Jim and Linda met them at the RV Dreams Rally in South Carolina this spring, and since they will be traveling through the area, they're going to stop by. :-) I don't know just when they'll be getting here, but Jim and Linda are looking forward to spending some time visiting and having dinner with them.
Maybe they'll get a site close to me and I'll get to meet their Motorhome! :-)
Most of the RVs left the CG yesterday. From now on, it'll be pretty quiet here at Prairie Pines. There'll be a few RVs stopping by as they travel through the area, and I'm sure a few will come for the weekend, but for the most part, the season is over. Soon we'll be leaving and so will the other RVs that are still here.
It's getting time to start heading South. ;-)
Did you know that on this day in 1813, the United States got its nickname, Uncle Sam? The name is linked to Samuel Wilson, a meat packer from Troy, New York, who supplied barrels of beef to the United States Army during the War of 1812. Wilson stamped the barrels with "U.S." for United States, but soldiers began referring to the grub as "Uncle Sam's." The local newspaper picked up on the story and Uncle Sam eventually gained widespread acceptance as the nickname for the U.S. federal government.

Happy Labor Day and Reservations
Ratnoul, IL.
58 deg. clear, S. wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. mostly sunny, breezy with winds increasing to 20 to 15 mph with 30 mph gusts.
Happy Labor Day!!!!!
Any of you who have been following this blog for a long time know that today is my favorite Holiday! :-) For those of you who have been following for less than a year, and asking, "Now why would labor day be his favorite Holiday"?, here's the reason.
You see, after today, almost none of the campgrounds and RV parks will be very busy. For most people the summer is over, the kids are back in school and many of the RVs will be put away for the season. Oh some of them may come back out for a short weekend, but most of the people won't be camping again until next year. ;-)
This means I can go into State, Corps of Engineers and National parks and find a site without any problems. In fact if it's like it has been in years past, there will be times when there is almost no one else there!
Ahhhhh!!! Peace and quiet!!!! :-)
Yesterday morning, Jim took CLT and did a bunch of running around to different stores. First he went to Rural King to by some peanut butter/pretzel snack things that he really likes, then he went over to the IGA grocery store and picked up a few items, then to Wally World to try to find a new coffee pot. He had looked at Wally World the other day for a new pot, but they were out of the little 5 cup model that he likes. Since then, they had gotten more in though, so he was able to buy one.
Then after he got back, he called the River Plantation RV Park in Sevierville, TN and made reservations for me for the RV Dreams Rally. He was able to get a site near Howard and Linda's so that Linda won't have too far to walk to get to the informal get-to-gethers that always seem to happen at their site. We'll be getting there Saturday, April 9th and leaving Monday, the 18th.
Oh, and for any of you that want to know, I'll be in site #231, and,..... I found out that Thor is coming too!!! :-)
Linda did a load of laundry yesterday, worked on the budget for August, and worked on her embroidery project. Then, for dinner, Jim cooked a couple of brats on the grill while Linda cooked some more sweet corn on my stove.
Today, I'm going to just sit here and watch all of the people pack up their RVs and head for home. :-) It should be interesting. Some of them will be in a hurry to leave this morning but some will take their time and probably won't be leaving until this afternoon. Some will have trouble hooking up, some will have problems getting everything packed into the RVs and at least one will have problems getting the awning rolled back up. Oh, and someone will forget a water hose, a "Y" connector or a water pressure regulator.
Ahhhhh!!!! Labor Day, my favorite Holiday. :-)
Did you know that more than a century later, the true founder of Labor Day has yet to be identified? Many credit Peter J. McGuire, cofounder of the American Federation of Labor, while others have suggested that Matthew Maguire, a secretary of the Central Labor Union, first proposed the holiday.

Almost Full and I'm Registered!
Rantoul, IL.
49 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. sunny, S. winds @ 5 to 15 mph.
Well, the Prairie Pines CG is almost full. I say almost because there were some last minute cancellations and people who just didn't show up again. I don't know why people have to cancel at the last minute. You would think that they would know a few days in advance that they are not coming, and then the sites could be rented out to other campers that have called, but were told that the CG was full for the weekend.
One of the biggest problems is that this CG does not accept credit cards. The reason for that is that the city won't put in the system to take them. So..... when someone calls, Louise has no way of taking a deposit on the sites and then if someone changes their mind, they cancel or just don't show up because they know it's not going to cost them anything. :-(
Oh well, that's the cities problem and not mine. They're the ones losing money.
CLT took Linda and Jim over to Walgreen's yesterday morning so Linda could get pick up her prescriptions. Once again, they were out of one of the meds, so they'll have to go back again Tuesday to pick it up.
Oh, I almost forgot!!!! Jim registered us for the RV Dreams Rally that is going to be held in Tennessee next April!!! It's going to be in Sevierville, TN at the River Plantation RV Park and should be a great location because it is near Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park .
Again, this is why Jim makes all his plans in pencil. You see, the original plan for next spring was to leave Florida, head over to Louisiana and follow the Mississippi River up to the Midwest. But,...... after talking to Linda about it, and deciding that they would rather go to the Rally, Jim got out that big eraser of his and changed the plan. :-)
Ahhhhhh!!! It's so good to be living this full-timing lifestyle where you can make changes like that. ;-)
Anyway, we're registered for the Rally and I'm already getting excited about going and seeing my old friends again.
Hmmmm! I wonder of Thor will be there?
Did you know that until Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894, laborers who chose to participate in parades had to forfeit a days wages?
Oh, for those of you that might be interested....all four of my rear tires are itching now!! Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!

More Wind, The Doctor and The Park's Filling Up
Rantoul, IL.
52 deg. clear, W. wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 70 deg. sunny, NW wind @ 10 to 15 mph with 20 mph gusts.
It was another windy day here in Rantoul yesterday, so again Jim didn't do much outside. In fact about the only thing that happened of note was that about 1:30, CLT (Cute Little Truck), took Linda and Jim over to the doctor's office in Fisher, so Linda could get the results of her tests and get her prescriptions renewed.
All the test results were good except one of the blood tests, so now in a month, Linda will have to have another blood test as a follow up. :-(
The way I've got it figured, we should be at Joe and Nancy's in Virginia Beach by that time. :-)
For dinner, Jim cooked some burgers out on the grill while Linda cooked some sweet corn on my stove and got out all the fixins for the burgers. Jim said that he thought the sweet corn they have now was much better than what they had when the Illinois Bunch was here.
About 8:00 last night, both Jim and Linda were wanting a snack and couldn't find anything that sounded good, so they took CLT and headed over to the Dairy Queen for some ice cream. I personally thought it was pretty chilly by that time to be having ice cream, but they both seemed to enjoy it.
A lot of RVs came into the park yesterday. Everything from pop-up trailers to 45' motor homes. I would guess that the park is over 1/2 full, and I expect quite a few more arrivals today.
This morning, Jim and Linda will take CLT and head over to Walgreen's to pick up her meds. Then, everyone should be able to just sit back and enjoy the holiday.
I hope all of you readers have a great, safe Labor Day weekend. ;-)
Did you know that in the late 1800s, at the height of the Industrial Revolution in the United States, the average American worked 12-hour days and seven-day weeks in order to eke out a basic living?

Wind
Rantoul, IL.
60 deg. clear, W. wind @ 8 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 74 deg. mostly sunny, W. wind @ 20 to 25 mph with 30 mph gusts.
Wind..
It was quite windy here in Rantoul yesterday. You can't see it, but you sure can feel it. When someone says that it was windy, just how windy was it? Linda doesn't mind the wind, but Jim won't even go outside if he can help it on a windy day.
So...... at what point does it feel too windy? Well, for Jim I'd say that anything over about 15 to 20 mph bothers him, and he would rather have winds in the 5 to 10 mph range to feel comfortable outside. As for me, when I'm sitting in a park, the wind doesn't really bother me much. I've been at parks where the wind was blowing at 30 to 40 mph and it didn't bother me at all. Actually my biggest concern is branches from trees or other stuff flying around and hitting me.
Now, when I'm out on the road,........that's a different story. A headwind doesn't really bother me too much. I just have to work a little harder, and of course burn more fuel in the process. A tailwind is what every RV hopes for. (You get to show your owner how good your fuel mileage can be). ;-) Any crosswind of 20 or 25 mph seems to bother me, and if it gets much above that, I sometimes have trouble holding a straight line as I travel down the road. If the wind gets up to 30 mph or more, I'm looking for a Campground or a place to park because even with Jim's help, I start having trouble staying in my lane.
A few years ago, when we were in the Texas panhandle, we got caught out on a 2 lane road with 40 to 45 mph crosswinds, with gusts up around 50 to 55 mph!!!! Now, that got exciting!!!!! Like I said, it was a 2 lane road with no place to safely pull off and park, so we slowly made our way to the next CG. (about 40 miles away.)
I never want to be in that situation again!!! :-0
Not much happened around here yesterday. It rained in the morning and then again in the evening, and in fact, we had a pretty good storm last night. A few RVs came into the park, and today I'm sure there will be a lot more arriving for the Holiday weekend. Jim worked on the plans for our upcoming trip out to the East Coast, (I hope the hurricanes quit by the time we got out there), and Linda worked on her latest embroidery project and her puzzles.
This afternoon and evening, it should get pretty interesting here at Prairie Pines. I expect most of the Holiday campers will be coming in and it'll be fun watching them get into their sites and get set up.
Hmmmm!!!! I wonder who my new neighbors will be???
Did you know that sscientists at the World Meteorological Organization confirmed that Cyclone Olivia in April 1996 produced gusts clocking in at 253.5 mph (408 km/h), the highest non-tornadic winds ever recorded?

Testing For New Glasses and Making Another Appointment
Rantoul, IL.
70 deg. light rain, S. wind @ 4 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 85 deg. cloudy, showers and t-storms, SW wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
CLT took Linda and Jim back to Wally World yesterday morning for Linda's appointment at the Vision Center to get new eye glasses. Everything went well and after the testing was done and Linda had picked out some new frames, they headed up to Paxton, IL and the True Value Hardware Store where Jim bought a few items that he had been looking for.
Oh, they told Linda that here new glasses should be ready in about a week.
Being that it was another hot and muggy day, the afternoon was spent inside reading, playing with the computers, and doing Sudoku puzzles. Linda also called her doctor's office and now she has an appointment on Friday to go in and get the test results and get new prescriptions for her medicine.
For dinner, Linda made Tacos, and then both she and Jim watched a Country Music show on TV.
Did you know that On this day in 1969, America's first automatic teller machine (ATM) made its public debut, dispensing cash to customers at Chemical Bank in Rockville Center, New York?

A Little Pondering
Rantoul, IL.
74 deg.mostly cloudy, S. wind @ 10 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 86 deg. mostly cloudy with a 60% chance of rain. SW wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
Why is it that if you're in a hurry to get someplace, all the stop lights turn red just as you approach the intersection? And, if you're not in a hurry, all the lights turn green and you don't have to stop?
I really don't understand it, but it sure seems to work that way. :-(
Also have you ever thought about the fact that if you're late for an appointment or a reservation, they will be ready for you right on time, but if you're on time, you'll have to wait and wait?
Hmmmmm!!! Something to think about.
Twas a slow day here at ye ole RV Park yesterday. A few left and a few came in. Jim and Linda took CLT and went grocery shopping at ye ole IGA after lunch, and everything went smoothly.
They didn't even buy too much to fit into my cabinets so I can't write about that!
They decided that they wanted Pizza for dinner, so they went to Monical's Pizza. The pizza was good, so was the service and the trip uneventful.
I guess I don't have much of anything to write about.
See ya tomorrow.
Did you know that worms reportedly taste like bacon?
Yep, that left rear inside tire is starting to itch!! :-(
