Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. mostly sunny, SW winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Hurray!!! Some more of the parts to repair me came in yesterday! Jim was in the office when UPS brought one part, and found out that Fed X had brought my new awning fabric earlier. And, I don't remember if I told you or not, but the kick-down cylinders for my leveling system came the other day.
Now, if I can get them installed.
Jim and Linda went to a Waffle House Restaurant for dinner, yesterday, and then went to a Publix grocery store after that. I didn't think they were that low on groceries, but they came back here with a lot of food.
After getting it all put away, they watched TV until bedtime.
I don't know what's happening today. I know Jim is getting really tired of sitting around here, so he and Linda may take CLT and go somewhere.
I think if Jim had tires, they'd be itching like mine are.

Still Waiting,
Lakeland, FL
52 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 78 deg, mostly sunny, SE winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
I know, I didn't post an entry on this blog yesterday, but to make a post, you have to have something to write about. Well, I didn't have anything and to be honest, I still don't.
Nothing new here, still waiting on parts, still parked along side of the main building, getting more and more bored every day! And, I'm going to be here at least 4 more days!!! Yep!! You heard me right!!! Even if all the parts would come in today, they would not be able to get them all installed until Monday, (at the earliest), so that would mean that it would be at least Tuesday before we could get out of here!!!
Late Wednesday afternoon, Jim and Linda took CLT and went to a Target store to buy some birthday cards and 2 new pillows for my bed. Jim's neck has been bothering him lately, and he determined that the old pillows had seen better days and gotten kind of flat. After making their purchases, they went to a Beef O'Brady's for dinner. Jim had a steak sandwich and Linda had a Rubin sandwich. They said both were quite good.
Yesterday, for dinner, Linda made some kind of BBQ /mushroom stuff and served it on something called puff pastry. Neither Jim or Linda had ever had anything like it before, but both seemed to like it, and said they would like to have it again.
Well, I guess that's all I have to write about for now. Hopefully the parts will get here today. To be honest though, I'm trying not to let my hopes get too high, because I know how these things go.
Oh, wait a minute!!! I though of something else!!
Do you remember Bob and Wanda who came to visit me when I was in Thonotosassa? Well, they called, and they are looking at buying a 1998 Beaver Contessa to use to go full-timing with!!! That's great!!! If we can meet up with them at a campground, I'll have a new RV friend that I can really connect with!!

I think my tires are starting to itch again! :-(

Smelly Stuff, and Still Waiting
Lakeland, FL.
50 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 74 deg. partly cloudy, E. winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
Well, I had a little excitement yesterday. About 1:00, Glenn, one of the employees here, drove me over to one of the other buildings. On the way, just after we passed the front of the main building, he stopped and Jim dumped my black and grey water tanks into a sewer connection. Once at the other building, Glenn proceeded to back me up on some huge ramps which lifted the back of me about 6 inches.
At first I didn't know what was going on when one of the guys started spraying some smelly stuff all over my engine and transmission, but soon I found out that it was some degreaser stuff they used prior to pressure washing greasy parts. You see, from those leaks that I've had back there, everything had gotten really gunky, so it really needed to be cleaned up. By about 2:30, they were done, and Glenn drove me back to my spot along side of the main building.
So, here I sit again, still waiting on parts. Unless some kind of miracle happens, I'll be here until sometime next week. Oh well, at least Jim and Linda don't have to pay campground fees. :-)
For dinner, Jim got out the grill and cooked a couple of burgers. Then it was TV again until bedtime.

Waiting and The Country Angles Restaurant
Lakeland, Fl.
37 deg. clear, no wind. Brrrrr!!
Forecast today = high temp. 72 deg. mostly sunny, E. winds @ 10 to 15mph.
I hope some of those parts come in pretty soon, so I have something to write about. This is not a real lot of fun, sitting here in a parking lot and waiting. I'm not good a waiting anyway, but if I was in a nice State Park, or Corps of Engineer's park, or even a nice private CG, I could manage much better. Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it, so I guess I might as well quit griping about it.
Absolutely nothing happened during the day yesterday. For dinner, Jim and Linda took CLT and went into Polk City, and to the County Angels Restaurant. I was wondering when they were going to go there. They go every time we are in the area because Jim really likes their homemade pizza and Linda likes their homemade specials of pork or beef dishes. I haven't seen the place, but CLT tells me that there's nothing fancy at all about the restaurant, and there is no way I'd ever be able to get into their little parking lot, or even park near-by for that matter. What does matter, however, is the great food and friendly service that Jim and Linda have always had there.
After they got back here and Linda got all the leftovers put into my fridge, (the portions are very large at the restaurant), they watched TV until about 11:00 and then went to bed.
Another exciting day in the life of a Motorhome.

A Much Better Day, OTD and Waiting On Parts
Lakeland, FL.
50 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 68 deg. partly cloudy, N. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday went much better than Saturday, but then when you don't do anything, not much can go wrong. CLT is doing fine after his ordeal, and about all that Jim and Linda did was watch TV, fool around with the computers, and take naps. Linda made a tuna casserole for dinner and then she and Jim watched the NASCAR race on TV.
How about that Matt Kenseth? Two in a row! I sure thought Jeff Gordon was going to pull it off, but he couldn't quite do it.
Oh, it's been brought to my attention that I have been telling you lately, that we have been traveling on I-10 instead of I-4. The only excuse I can give is that we were traveling on I-10 for so long, (all the way from Arizona to Florida), that I got into the habit of talking about it. Or, maybe it's OTD. What is OTD, you ask? It's Old Timer's Disease, and I know I've got that! :-)
Well, I'd better get going. I don't know if my mechanic will be working on me today or not, but I need to be ready. About the only thing he can do is my annual service, and work on the oil and fuel leaks back in my engine compartment. Everything else he needs to do requires parts that aren't here yet.
Did you know that it was on this date in 1945 that U.S. Marines raised the American flag on Iwo Jima?

Not A Real Good Day, and Finally Got The Prescription
Lakeland, FL.
50 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 74 deg, partly sunny, NW winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
The mechanics here at Creative Coach, don't work on Saturdays or Sundays, so nothing to report there. I've just been sitting here trying to keep from getting bored.
CLT, (Cute Little Truck), on the other hand had some real excitement yesterday afternoon. It wasn't the kind of excitement you want though. You see, about 11:30, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed back to Thonotosassa to pick up Linda's prescription at the Walgreen's Pharmacy. Everything went fine until they turned off of I-10 and onto CR 579, heading South. Well, about a mile or so down the road, the traffic, all of a sudden, came to a stop. Well, CLT couldn't stop fast enough, and banged into the car in front of him. Not much damage, but enough that CLT had to sit there and wait for the policeman to come and make out an accident report. Well, to make a long story a little shorter, the police finally came, (after about 45 minutes), wrote the report, and everyone went on their way. The police estimated $200 damages to the rear of the car, and $50 to the front of CLT.
Anyhow, Jim and Linda picked up the prescription, stopped at Camping World to get a water filter for me, stopped at a grocery store for milk and bread, and finally made it back here about 3:00.
Not a real good day!
Thankfully the rest of the day went well. CLT sat over to the side of the parking lot and nursed his minor wounds, while Jim and Linda ate dinner, watched TV and then went to bed about 11:00.
Did you remember that today is George Washington's birthday?

Furnace, Awning, Prescription, and My New Friend
Lakeland, FL.
34 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 70 deg. clear, E. winds @ 10 mph.
Yesterday went pretty well. Lester, (my mechanic) took apart my furnace to look for that water leak, and really didn't find anything that looked like it was leaking, but did find a leak at the little circulating pump that pumps the water throughout my interior to the different heat exchangers. Now, if that is all that is leaking, it won't be too bad, but if after some more testing he finds that it's actually the furnace, It's going to get quite expensive. Right now, Jim and Linda are using my furnace, and unless something shows up, will use it throughout the weekend. Then, Lester will check it again to see if any other leaks show up.
The other big thing that happened, was that new fabric was ordered for my main awning. The sewing is coming apart at the seams, and could possibly be re sewn, but there are also a couple of little holes in the fabric, so it was decided that it would be best to replace it.
Big news!!! Linda's prescription if finally ready!!! So, today, she and Jim will head back to Thonotosassa and pick it up. Yes, they know that they could have had it transferred to a Walgreen's here in Lakeland, but because this whole thing has been such a hassle, they decided to just take CLT (Cute Little Truck), and drive down there and pick it up.
It'll be good for them to get out and about anyway. ;-)
Oh, I have to tell you about my new friend, (a Holiday Rambler MH), who is parked right next to me. As he was being driven through a CG, his left rear wheels fell through a septic system clean out cover. (No jokes now, It wasn't funny). Well, you wouldn't believe the damage that he received. When his wheels went into the hole, the body dropped down on the ground and bent all kinds of things. He even had to go to a frame shop to have his frame straightened and has been here for the last 14 days getting the body damage repaired. He's looking good now though, and will probably be released Monday or Tuesday.

Still No Prescription and Trip to Lakeland
Lakeland, FL.
49 deg. clear, light NW breeze
Forecast today = high temp. 61 deg. clear, N. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
.
I know, I didn't post here yesterday, but between me being upset about having to come here to Lakeland to see my mechanic and having to leave by 9:00 yesterday morning, it just didn't get done.
.
Wednesday wasn't a good day at all. I got all upset about having to come here to Lakeland, Jim wasn't feeling very well, and Linda spent most of the day on the phone trying to get her one remaining prescription filled.
.
The pharmacy kept telling Linda that they couldn't contact the doctor, so Linda called the doctors office, (at least 3 times), and by the time Linda called the pharmacy the last time, there was a different person there, and they didn't have any idea what was happening, and told her that the prescription was not ready. By this time, Linda was also upset, and she just hung up the phone! Now, let me tell you, it takes a lot to upset Linda, but this was the last straw.
.
Yesterday morning, after hugs and handshakes, we left Southern Aire right at 9:00. We headed back to I-10 and took it NE to Lakeland, and here to Creative Coach, http://www.creativecoach.com/ , and pulled into the crowded parking lot at the front of the building. It was 9:40 when we pulled in, so it took us 40 minutes to travel 33 miles. This place is actually just across the street from where my mechanic, (Lester), was working last year.
.
After a short time, I was being parked at the side of the building, and Lester was checking out my problems, ordering parts, and starting to work on me.
.
I don't know how long we'll be here. Some of the parts have to come from California, others from Iowa, and I don't think everything is ordered yet. I know I'll have to stay at least until the middle of next week.
Did you know that on this date in 1962 John Glenn became the first American to orbit the earth?

Dinner With Denny & Bev, Meds, and No Cancellation
Thonotosassa, FL.
54 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. partly cloudy, S. winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
It was actually a pretty slow day yesterday. Jim and Denny went to the post office and a hardware store early in the afternoon. Then, after happy hour, Jim and Linda went over to Denny and Bev's for dinner. Denny cooked some chicken on his grill, Linda cooked some green beans, and took them over there, and Bev made mashed potatoes, and sliced some tomatoes. Both Jim and Linda said everything tasted really good.
Oh, Linda called the Walgreen's store to check on her prescription, only to find out that her doctor had not returned the pharmacy's call, so of course the medication was not ready. She's had this problem before, and is getting quite fed up with this doctor. Now, if the pharmacy didn't hear from the doctor yesterday, I'm not quite sure what will happen. We're scheduled to leave here tomorrow, and time is running out.
Speaking of leaving here tomorrow, I don't know where we'll be going from here. Jim didn't call and cancel my appointment yesterday, but I'm sure he'll do it today.
What?? He's not going to cancel my appointment?? I have to go??? But I don't even know exactly where the business that my mechanic moved to, is located!!! We may not be able to find it and if we do, the building may not even be big enough for me to get inside of!!! I'm doing fine, I don't really need to have any work done!! I'll be OK!!
Oh me, why does this have to be happening to me?
Did you know that 99 out of 100 RVs never have to go to see a mechanic?
OK, I made that up. ---- I'm sorry. :-(

Slow Morning, Busy Afternoon
Thonotosassa, FL.
45 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 72 deg. partly cloudy, East winds @ 10 mph.
Not much happened yesterday morning, but in the afternoon, things got pretty busy, especially for Jim. First of all, he noticed Gordy sitting outside so he walked over there to visit for awhile. While he was there, Dave came over and asked Jim and Gordy to help him and Denny install a slide-out topper on the main slide-out on his 5th wheel trailer. So, Jim and Gordy headed over there.
The whole installation process went pretty well, with only one glitch that was easily remedied, and in a couple of hours the topper was installed and working properly.
As soon as that job was finished, Jim came back here and then he and Linda took CLT and headed to Walgreen's to get Linda's prescriptions refilled. That went pretty well too, but there was a problem with one item, so now they'll have to go back either today or tomorrow to pick it up. By the time they got back here, it was almost time for happy hour, so Jim took a cold one and his lawn chair and headed back over to Gordy's.
Whew!!!
The evening was spent relaxing and watching TV until the news was over, when they headed to bed.
Did you know that in Anchorage Alaska it is against the law to tie your pet dog to the roof of a car?
Hmmm, I guess Jim was just too busy to call and cancel my mechanic's appointment yesterday. I'm sure he'll do it today.

Thinking
Thonotosassa, FL.
59 deg. partly cloudy, light NE winds
Forecast today = high temp. 74 deg. mostly sunny, North winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
Happy President's Day!
Yesterday, I told you that there was a 60% chance of T-storms for this area. Well, that got me thinking., (probably not good), about how much moisture it takes to be considered rain. I only had about 13 drops of rain on my windshield yesterday, but I guess that would be considered rain. Awhile back, it was foggy, and even though most would not consider it rain, the mist on my windshield accumulated so much that my wipers had to be used. Now, I guess my question is, when is it rain? Can real heavy mist be considered rain? Can those few drops of moisture on my windshield be considered rain? The mist got me much wetter than the rain did. When does the mist become rain?
Like I said, probably not good that I got thinking.
Not much happened yesterday. Jim changed the switch in my utilities compartment that turns on my water pump from that location. (it hadn't worked for years), watched Matt Kenseth win a shortened Daytona 500 race, and cooked a couple of burgers on the grill. Linda did some embroidery work, read some, and worked on the computer for awhile.
Today, Jim and Linda need to go to a Walgreen's Drug Store to get Linda's prescriptions refilled. They really should have gone last week, but put it off for one reason or another. Other than that, I don't think there's any plans.
Did you know that air-filled tires were used on bicycles before they were used on automobiles?
I hope Lester, (my mechanic), isn't too disappointed when Jim calls and cancels my appointment for Thursday.

Groceries, Chinese Again? and Boogity, Boogity, Boogity
Thonotosassa, FL.
65 deg. overcast, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 74 deg. cloudy, 60% chance of T-storms, winds SE @ 5 mph.
Yesterday was grocery shopping day. Jim and Linda took CLT and went to Winn Dixie. Again, I think they bought too many groceries because they were having trouble finding places to put them in my cabinets and refrigerator. They finally found places for all of them though, and now except for a few items like bread and milk, they should be good for awhile.
After putting the groceries away, Jim was sitting outside to relax a little, when Dave stopped by. Then, in a little while Denny and Gordy came over too. That was neat, I'm glad they stopped by.
Later in the afternoon, Dave asked Jim if he and Linda would like to go along to dinner with them. He said they were going to go to a Chinese restaurant. Well, Jim and Linda had just been to a Chinese restaurant the night before, but they decided to go anyway. Being that this one was a buffet, they figured they could find something different than they had the night before.
Jim and Linda both said the food was really good, and they really enjoyed the meal, and conversation.
Today, I imagine Jim will spend the afternoon watching the Daytona 500 race. I think they'll have some rain delays in the race though. The guy on TV is showing the radar right now, and there's quite a bit of green on the screen. Who knows though, maybe it will clear out by this afternoon.
Did you know that Galileo, the great astronomer, mathematician and physicist, was born in this date in 1564?

Happy Valentine's Day
Thonotosassa, FL.
53 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. partly cloudy, 20% chance of rain, SW winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Happy Valentine's Day!!!! Be sure to give that special someone in your life a big hug today!
Not a real lot happened here at Southern Aire yesterday. Linda did a load of laundry, Jim dumped my tanks, Linda did some embroidery work, Jim went to happy hour, and they both went out to dinner at a Chinese Restaurant they found.
As for me, I just sat here and watched the people walk by, the cars and RVs drive by, and the squirrels play in the trees. Real exciting, Huh?
You know, the more I think about it, the more I think we can just skip the appointment with my mechanic. Like is said the other day, I'm sure we can manage without getting those nagging little problems fixed. Besides, if we're going to be heading up to Bushnell or Ocala, going back to Lakeland would be out of the way, and I would sure hate to waste any of my good old #2 fuel driving up there if we don't have to.
Yep, we can just cancel that appointment.
Did you know that the red rose was the favorite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love, and that red stands for strong feelings, which is why a red rose is the flower of love?

Linda Has "One Of Those Days", and Jim's Shopping Trip
Thonotosassa, FL
56 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 83 deg. mostly sunny E. winds @ 5 mph.
Linda had "one of those days", yesterday. It started out with her not feeling quite up to par, and it kind of went down hill from there. You know how it is, you don't feel real good, and then when you try to do things, nothing goes right. You drop things, you lose things, you make little mistakes, and pretty soon everything seems to be going wrong.
Hopefully today will go better.
Jim, on the other hand, had a pretty good day. He and Denny took off in Denny's truck after lunch, and headed over to the Camping World store that is about 4 miles from here. Jim wanted to get a new Campground Directory, as the one he's using is 3 years old, and there's been a lot of changes during that time. He also wanted to look at one of those square aluminum roll top tables to use to put his grill on. He ended up buying both of those items, but forgot to buy a new water filter for my drinking water/ ice machine, water supply.
After going to Camping World, Denny had a bunch of things he needed to do, so they ended up going to a Walgreen's, a Wal-Mart, the Post Office, and a roadside fruit stand. By the time they returned to the CG it was after 4:00, and they were late for happy hour! :-(
Oh, and before Jim could go to happy hour, he first had to go over to the office to check on the mail. It was OK though, the mail was there, and he still got over to Gordy's in plenty of time to enjoy some conversation and a cold one. ;-) When he came back from happy hour, he fired up the grill and cooked a couple brats for him and Linda for dinner. While he was doing that, Linda warmed up some left-over green bean casserole to go with them.
After dinner, Linda seemed to be feeling better, and things seemed to be going fine. She and Jim watched TV until after the news and then went to bed.
Did you know that some people used to believe that if a woman saw a robin flying overhead on Valentine's Day, it meant she would marry a sailor. If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man and be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a millionaire.
Happy Friday the 13th!!! I hope you're not superstitious.

Bob and Wanda, and No Plans For Today
Thonotosassa, FL.
66 deg. overcast, light Northerly wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. patchy fog early then partly cloudy. W. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Bob and Wanda called a little after 12:00 yesterday and told Jim that they were on their way and would be here shortly. About 15 or 20 minutes later, they arrived at the park.
They currently own a Class C Motorhome, and use it for vacations and outings when they can. Their dream is to go Full-timing soon, but because of Bob's father's bad health, their dreams will have to be put on hold for awhile. Eventually, They're planning on buying a class A MH in the 40 foot range, and were very interested in my floor plan and the pros and cons of my layout. They asked Jim and Linda a lot of questions about Full-timing and they all sat outside under my awning and talked and talked all afternoon.
About 5:30, everyone got into Bob and Wanda's car, and they went to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant, where Bob bought Jim and Linda's dinner. I know Jim and Linda want to say, "Thanks Bob and Wanda". When they returned to the park, it was time for hugs and handshakes, as Bob and Wanda needed to head home.
You know, I think this is one of those friendships that will last a long time. They really seem like a great couple and are very interesting and fun to be with. I hope all their Dreams come true.
.
I don't think Jim and Linda have any plans for today. If I know Jim, he'll probably wander over to Denny's or Dave's and spend some time talking to them, and I wouldn't be surprised if Linda ended up over at Bev's, talking to her, and then of course, most of them will get together for happy hour over at Gordy and Dorthy's at 4:00.
.
It should be another great day at Southern Aire. ;-)

Getting Ready, and My Problems
Thonotosassa, FL
56 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. partly cloudy, S. winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
Jim and Linda spent part of the day yesterday, making me purdy, (at least as purdy as an almost 17 year old coach can get) :-) , for our company that is coming today. Actually they didn't do anything that shouldn't have been done already, like dusting, vacuuming and picking up and putting away stuff.
Now that it's getting warmer, Jim put out my awnings, and he and Linda spent some time sitting out on the patio and enjoying the great weather we're having. About 4:00 both of them went over to "happy hour" for some conversation and "grinning" with the Illinois bunch, and some others that stopped by.
For dinner, Linda heated up some of that great fish that Deedee had given them at the fish fry the other day. Along with that, she heated up some asparagus and got out some chips to go with it.
That fish smelled just as good as it did Sunday when Deedee was cooking it. :-)
OK! The other day, I made a comment about me having some problems that my mechanic was going to have to fix. Well, here's a couple of the major things. I have developed a oil/fuel/transmission fluid leak back in my engine compartment. I don't know exactly which it is, but after a day of travel, CLT, (Cute Little Truck), has spots all over the front of him. Then there's my furnace that is leaking coolant. If the furnace needs to be replaced, it could get very expensive. The kick-down cylinder on my left front leveling jack is leaking and will need to be replaced. And. the sewing on my awnings is starting to come apart, so that may mean new fabric needs to be installed.
As you can see, I have a pretty long list, plus, I'll need all of my regular scheduled maintenance done, like lube, oil, and filter changes.
You know, I was thinking? Maybe if we stayed where it was warm, I wouldn't have to get my furnace fixed, and if I drove slow, CLT wouldn't get sprayed with whatever is leaking, and if we parked where it is level and shady, Jim wouldn't have to use my leveling jacks or put out my awnings. In fact I think I could even do without that scheduled maintenance this year.
You know what I think? I think I don't need to go to my mechanic at all!! Maybe we could just skip the whole thing!
Did you know that in Victorian times, it was considered bad luck to sign a Valentine's Day card?

Roland and Louise Update and Company Coming
Thonotosassa, FL.
51 deg. overcast, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 79 deg. partly cloudy, SE winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
I've got to start out by going back to Sunday, and telling you about a phone call. You long time readers will remember me talking about Roland and Louise, (Jim and Linda's very good friends), and the horrible accident they had last March. Well, after playing "phone tag" they finally were able to have conversations, and the news out of Forest City, NC was really good. Louise is finally able to walk, (with assistance of a walker), fairly long distances, and she actually was able to get up the steps of Big Herb, (their Winnebago Journey MH), for the first time since the accident!!! Now folks, this is great news!!! If Louise is able to get into Big Herb, that means they will finally be able to go RVing, and just maybe, they can resume their full-timing lifestyle some day!!
Congratulations Louise!!!! :-)
Also on Sunday, Jim tried to call a couple that they had met down in Branson, MO, at the RV Dreams Rally last spring. They are Bob and Wanda Fry, and they live here in the Tampa / St Petersburg area. Well, anyway, they weren't home when Jim called, but Bob returned Jim's call yesterday, and after talking for awhile, it was decided that they would come to see me Wednesday afternoon!! Now, I've never met Bob and Wanda, but Jim and Linda "hit it off" with them at the rally and if Jim and Linda like them, I'm sure I will too.
You know, it's really strange, how when you meet some people you instantly have a good feeling about them, and many times, you end up being very good friends. From what I can tell, this is what happened at the rally. Bob and Wanda just happened to be sitting at the same table as Jim and Linda at one of the dinners or something, and they just started talking. Well, before you knew it, they were exchanging phone numbers and address, and now, since we're in the area where they live, Jim made a phone call, and made arrangements to meet up again.
You just never know. When you meet someone, they very well may end up being life long friends.
Yesterday, it was decided that Jim and Linda would go over to Denny and Bev's RV and they would order a pizza for dinner. Well, they did, they ordered it, it came, they ate it, and had a good evening of conversation in the process. Jim and Linda always enjoy getting together with them.
Well, I'd better get going. I need to start getting ready for my company that is coming tomorrow. I want to try to look nice when they come. First impressions are important, you know. ;-)

Great Food, Great People, and Jim Found Lester!!
Thonotosassa, FL
47 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 77 deg. partly cloudy, E. winds @ 10 mph.
Yesterday was another beautiful day, so Jim did some bike riding, and visiting with the neighbors, while Linda made a green-bean/rice casserole to take to the fish fry that Dave and Deedee were having in the afternoon. Then, about 3:30 everyone started gathering over at their site, and Deedee started frying the fish.
Like I said yesterday, Dave, (on the right, talking to some Canadian friends), caught the fish during the summer and brought them down here to share.

Jim and Linda want to say, "Thanks Dave and Deedee, for the great fish and the effort it took to get it all ready."
As you can see by the photo below, there were a lot of people at the fish fry. There were even more people, but Jim wasn't able to get them all in the photo.
It's times like this that I wish I could drink something besides that good old #2 diesel fuel. I could smell the fish frying all the way over here, and it sure smelled good. Hmmm, I wonder if I could drink some of that oil that Deedee fried the fish in?
.
Oh, I almost forgot. Friday, when Jim called to get an appointment for my annual maintenance and some other work I need to have done, he found out that Lester, my mechanic in Lakeland Fl. has moved to a new place. He no longer works for Central Florida Coachworks. Of course they didn't want to tell Jim where Lester had gone, but Jim found his home phone number by doing a search on the Internet, and gave him a call yesterday afternoon. What he found out is that he now works for Creative Coach, which is located in the same general area, and Jim will call there this morning to make an appointment to have the work done.
.
Whew, I'm sure glad Jim was able to locate Lester. He's the only mechanic I really trust to work on me, especially if I am having problems, like I'm having now.
.
What kind of problems am I having, you ask? Well, this post is getting long enough, so you'll just have to wait for another day to find out. ;-)

My Site, A Fish Fry Today, and A Great Forecast
Thonotosassa, FL.
47 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. partly cloudy, NE winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Jim finally got out his camera yesterday and took a few photos. This one shows me in my site here at Southern Aire, and you can see why this site is available much of the time. You have to back in around these trees, and then get lined up next to the cement patio. It's a nice site, but I can understand why many people don't want to go through the hassle of backing in here, when there are other sites available. The reason that Jim and Linda like it, is that it's pretty close to all of the Illinois Bunch's sites.
Yesterday was another beautiful day, and the forecast for the next 7 days is really good, with highs in the mid to upper 70's, (with a possibility of getting up into the low 80's). The only chance of rain is next Saturday, and then they are saying only a slight chance.
I can live with that!! :-)
Today, Dave and Deedee are having a cookout over at their site. Back in Illinois, Dave catches a bunch of fish during the summer, freezes them, and brings them here for everyone to enjoy. Deedee will fry the fish and everyone will bring a dish to share, (like a potluck). If it's like years past, there will be way more great food than the people can eat.
As for me, I'm just going to sit here and soak up this great weather. This has been a strange winter with records being set across the country. I know the places I've been have been colder than normal, and it sure is good to finally be where it's warm.
Ahhhh!! Life is good!!!!
Did you know that for Valentine's Day, approximately 110 million roses, the majority red, will be sold and delivered during a 3 day time period?

Better Weather, Dumpster Diving? and An Electric Heater
Thonotosassa, FL.
44 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 72 deg. sunny, E. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day. It was sunny, the temperature got up to about 68 deg. and there was only a light breeze blowing. Most people were still wearing jackets, but not the heavy coats that were required in days past.
Jim got his bicycle out of the back of CLT and rode it around the park some. On one of his rides, he took the garbage down to the dumpsters and while there, noticed a pair of electric heaters setting along side of one of the dumpsters. Well, they looked pretty nice, and usually if someone sets items next to the dumpster, (instead of putting them into the dumpster), the item is still working, or the original owner feels that someone may have use of it. Well, Jim brought them back here, plugged them in to test them, and one of them works very well. The other one seemed to have some problems, so he ended taking it back where he found it.
I don't know if Jim is going to keep the heater or not, but for now, it's doing a fine job of keeping everything nice and warm inside of me. You never know what you're going to find at the dumpsters. ;-)
About 4:00 Jim took a cold one and a lawn chair over to Gordy's for happy hour. It looked like there were quite a few people there again, and from what I could hear from here, it sounded like everyone was having a good time.
About 5:30 Jim came back here, and then he and Linda took CLT and headed to a near-by Bob Evans Restaurant for dinner. After they returned, they watched some TV and then headed to bed after the news.
Did you know that about 1 billion Valentine's Day cards are exchanged each year?

A 2 Hour Drive, Southern Aire, and Happy Hour
Thonotosassa, FL.
28 deg. clear, no wind
Forecast today = high temp. 65 deg. partly cloudy, NE winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
I really expected it to be colder this morning. It was 32 deg. last nigh at about 11:00, but for some reason, the temps didn't drop much lower than that.
After it warmed up a little yesterday morning, Jim went out and got me unhooked from the utilities, and by 10:30 we were pulling out of the CG in Orange City. From the CG, we hopped right on I-4, (about 1/4 mile away), and took it SW, through Orlando and Lakeland, and to exit #10 where we turned to the North and followed Rt. 579 for about 4 miles to the Southern Aire RV Resort.
The trip went well, with no delays going through the 2 cities, and by about 12:30 we were pulling into the park. So, it took us almost exactly 2 hours to travel 110 miles.
Denny and Bev must have been watching for me because right after we pulled into the park, Denny came out to the parking area to greet us. Then in a few minutes Dave came over too. It sure was good to see them again.
After registering me, Jim unhooked CLT and drove me around the block to get me headed the right way to get into site #118. 118 is a little tricky to get into, (there's a tree at the front of the site), but by using my mirrors and with some help from one of the park workers and Denny, Jim got me backed in without any problems.
About 4:00 Jim went down to Gordy's site, (just across the street and down a few sites), for happy hour. Every day, the Illinois Bunch get together for a cold one or two, and sit in a circle and talk, laugh and in general, have a good time. The happy hour is not just for the Illinois Bunch though, anyone is welcome, and other people that are staying in the park come and join in from time to time.
For dinner, Linda cooked fish, asparagus, and some noodles. Everything sure smelled good, and Jim said it tasted good too. After eating Jim took a nap, and then they both watched TV until after the news was over.
So, this is where I'll be for the next 2 weeks. The weather is suppose to get warmer, the people here are friendly, and the "Illinois Bunch" are all here. What more could you ask for? :-)
Did you know that the word Thonotosassa comes from the Seminole-Creek words "thlonto" and "sasses", meaning the place was a source of valuable flint?

Cold Again, and The Illinois Bunch
Orange City, FL.
26 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 49 deg. clear, N. winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
Brrrrrr!!!! I'm sure glad Jim put that drop cord with the 100 W. light bulb in my utilities compartment last night. My pipes surely would have frozen by now. I think after this winter, Jim will be looking into ways to insulate that area, or something.
Yesterday afternoon, Jim and Linda went to a Michael's store so Linda could buy some more embroidery projects. It looked like she found quite a few because she was carrying a couple of bags when they returned.
Jim and Linda did meet Laura and Lindsey at the Perkins Restaurant last night. They left here a little before 5:00 and were back here by about 6:30. After they returned, they watched TV until after the news and then headed to bed.
This morning, we'll be heading to Thonotosassa and the Southern Aire RV Resort to see the "Illinois Bunch". For those of you that are new to this blog, I'll explain who the Illinois Bunch are. First there's Denny and Bev. Jim grew up about a block away from where Denny lived, and so they have been friends for many, many years. Then there's Dave and Deedee. Jim and Linda got to know them quite a few years ago, and in fact, Linda used to work at the same place as Deedee's brother. Then there's Gordy and Dorthy. Jim and Linda have not known them for as long, but have become friends with them since meeting them down here in Florida. All of these people are friends back in Illinois, so being that they all have RVs, they come down here to Florida every winter to escape some of the cold weather. So where did the "Illinois Bunch" name come from, you ask? Well, I guess I'm responsible for that. I just started calling them that, rather than saying every one's name.
So, now when I write about the Illinois Bunch, you'll know who I'm talking about.

A New Record? and Plans
Orange City, FL.
44 deg. clear, W. winds @ 8 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 49 deg. sunny, NW winds @ 15 to 20 mph.
We are not having typical Florida weather. Monday, it rained all day and yesterday it was quite cool. Today, there is another cold front coming through and the wind is supposed to pick up during the day, with high temps near 50 deg. Then tonight, they say the winds will die down and the temps will fall into the mid 20's, getting very close to setting a new record low. Brrrrrr!!!
Laura had to work Monday and Tuesday, and today, she has to go to some kind of class, so we haven't seen her since Sunday. Jim and Linda are hoping that they will be able to get together with her and Lindsey for dinner tonight at a restaurant in the area, because tomorrow we will be leaving here and it will be the 9th or 10th of March before we're back here again.
What am I going to be doing between now and the first part of March, you ask? Well, tomorrow, we'll head to Thonotosassa Fl. to meet up with the "Illinois Bunch". We'll be there for 2 weeks. After that, I need to have my annual service work done, plus, I am having some other problems that need to be repaired. (Remember me telling you about my furnace?) Then we'll probably head up to the SKP park in Bushnell, then to Ocala to see Jim and Linda's friend, and then finally back here to Orange City.
Then, if all that goes according to plan, we'll be staying here in Orange City until sometime after the 1st of April, when it will be time to start heading North again.

Groundhog Day, The Super Bowl, and The Party
Orange City, FL.
56 deg. overcast, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 66 deg. cloudy, 100% chance of rain, SE winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Happy Groundhog day!!! Yep, this is the day they drag that poor groundhog out of his burrow and hold him up to see if he casts a shadow or not. Like I've said before, why can't those people just look to see if they cast a shadow? Leave the groundhog alone!!!
Wow!! How about that Super Bowl game!! One of the most exciting in a long time!!!
Jim and Linda went over to Laura and Lindsey's yesterday afternoon for the Super Bowl party. Lindsey's parents, Marv and Inez, and his grandmother Odel, came over about 4:00 and soon after, everyone enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs that Lindsey cooked out on his grill, along with other things like raw vegetables, baked beans, chips and dips, meatloaf, (that Inez brought), and deserts, (brought by both Linda and Inez). Then of course, everyone watched the exciting game.
It was after 10:00 by the time CLT brought Jim and Linda back here. Then, after watching a little TV they called it a day and headed to bed.

A Movie, Dinner, and A Party
Orange City, FL.
37 deg. mostly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 65 deg. partly cloudy, SE winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
The weather turned out to be pretty nice yesterday so Jim went out and hooked me up to the city water, put out sewer hoses and drained my tanks, and aired up CLT's tires.
While he was doing that, Laura called and wanted to know if Linda and Jim would like to go with her and Anna to see a movie. Well, Jim declined, but Linda said she would like to go, so about 1:00 Laura stopped by and picked Linda up. Laura and Linda also discussed the possibility of going out to dinner at Chili's after the movie. It was decided that when they got out of the movie, they would call Jim and then he would take CLT and meet them at the restaurant.
So, that is what happened. About 4:30 they called, Jim went to the restaurant and they all had good food and great conversation. In fact, Lindsey and Ashley joined them too, so everyone was there.
As most of you probably know, the Super Bowl is being played today, and Jim and Linda are invited to Laura's for a Super Bowl Party. So, the plan is to go over there sometime before 4:00, have some dinner and then watch the game.
So, what am I going to be doing while the game is on, you ask? Well, I don't really know. The Voyager MH next to me seems pretty nice, so I'll see if I can strike up a conversation with him. He's from upstate New York, and just down here for the winter, so I don't know how much we'll have in common. We'll just have to see.
Did you know that Mike Ditka, Tom Flores, and Tony Dungy have all won a Super Bowl both as a player and a coach?
