Forecast for 12:00 AM, Jan 1, 2010 = temp. 62 deg., cloudy, light SW wind.
Are you ready? Ready for what, you ask? Why, the New Year, of course!!!! Was 2009 a good year for you? It was for me, and I think it was for Jim and Linda too. Linda did lose her Aunt Minnie this past summer, but over all, it's been a good year.
Now, we start a new year. Some people will welcome it and others will wish the old one would stay here forever. The new year brings uncertainty, but also the possibilities of all kinds of good things. For many, this past year has not been too good, with all the fall of the stock market and the loss of jobs because of the closing of many businesses.
I truly hope that 2010 is a better year for all the people who lost jobs or had financial problems during 2009.
The other day, I heard Linda ask Jim if he was going to make a New Year's resolution. He said he was going to and he told Linda what it is. He told her that his resolution for the new year was not to make a resolution!! ;-D
Hmmmm!!!!
Yesterday afternoon, Jim took CLT (Cute Little Truck), and bought him 2 new tires. His front ones were about worn out and they were also wearing crooked, so Jim had his front end aligned too. Now I don't have to worry so much about CLT blowing a tire while I'm towing him down the road. :-)
For dinner, Jim cooked a couple of burgers out on his grill and Linda made a rice and green bean dish on my stove. Then later, they watched a movie called "Elizabeth" that Laura and Lindsey had given them for a Christmas present.
One last thing. Please be extra careful if you are going to be out and about tonight. There will be a lot of people going to and coming from parties and some of them will be drinking and driving. Watch out for these people, I don't want any of you getting into an accident!!
Did you know that kissing your significant other is a favorite New Year's Eve tradition meant to guarantee a good relationship and affections throughout the next year?
Have fun tonight, and here's wishing all of you a "Happy New Year!!!!"

An Apology, Saving Money and A Movie
Orange City, FL.
43 deg. clear, N. wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 72 deg. partly cloudy, E. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday morning Jim got on the computer and looked up the Perkins Restaurant web site. http://www.perkinsrestaurants.com/ Once connected to the site, he found a section that said "contact us". After clicking on it, a box came up where you could leave a comment, so he wrote about what had happened Sunday evening at the Orange City location. It asked him to pick a store from the drop-down list and then type in his contact information.
Well, to his surprise, in less than 2 hours after leaving his complaint on the Web site, the phone rang, and it was the manager, Chris, from the Orange City Perkins Restaurant! The first thing he did was apologize and then he asked Jim to tell him what had happened. After listening to Jim and asking a few questions, he again apologized and told him that what had happened was completely unacceptable, and he promised Jim he would take care of it, so it wouldn't happen again. Then he then went on to say that if Jim and Linda would consider coming back to the restaurant, he would be happy to buy them dinner.
Now, this quick response and the way it was handled was completely unexpected. After the conversation with Chris, and the apology from him, it seems like Perkins really wants to please their customers. Chris seemed to be really sincere when he apologized and seemed truly concerned that the incident had happened in the first place.
So, I think Jim and Linda will give the Perkins restaurant in Orange City another chance. It seems like they are really committed to insuring that their customers have a good dinning experience.
On another note....... The electrical cable that Jim uses to hook up CLT's lights to me when I am towing him, is getting old. It's a coiled cord and the outside insulation is cracking, exposing the wires inside. Well, Jim checked out the Camping World catalog to see about getting a new one, and found out that the only way he could get one was to buy it as a kit with all the connectors, including the plug on CLT and on me. The price for this kit? $94.99 with Jim's discount!!!! Well, Jim thought that was really high, so yesterday afternoon, he took CLT and headed over to the Deland Truck Center, which is only about 5 miles from here and picked up a some new 6 conductor wire for $1.25 a foot!!!
Now, it's not the coiled kind, and there are no connectors on the wire so Jim will have to change them, but for $86.24, Jim will be more than happy to spend a few hours sitting under my awning doing that!
What did Linda do yesterday, you ask? Well, about 1:00 Laura came by and picked her up and they went to see that new Sherlock Holmes movie that just came out. When she came back she said it was a fun movie, but it didn't really follow the books much.
I think she and Laura had a good time. :-)
For dinner, Linda heated up some leftovers for Jim and some soup for herself. Then, it was TV again until bedtime.

So You Think Your Had A Bad Christmas?
Orange City, FL.
40 deg. Clear, NW wind @ 9 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 61 deg, mostly sunny, N wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
I don't have much to write about today. There seems to be kind of a lull between Christmas and New Year, and nothing much is happening.
Jim got an e-mail from Dave, (One of the Illinois bunch that we meet up with a couple tires of year), and he and Dee Dee did not have a very good Christmas. Their problems started a little before Christmas when Dave had a flat tire on his truck, (A chunk of steel in a relatively new tire) on a day when it was pouring down rain. Then the day before Christmas, their dog, (Sadie) got sick and couldn't control her bodily functions and made a mess wherever she went. Christmas day, they got a call from Dee Dee's brother, and he was taking Dee Dee's mother to the hospital with stomach pains. Then, while they were there, she had a heart attack!!
Sunday, Dave and Dee Dee were supposed to leave Illinois to come down here to Florida where they have reservations. Well, with Dee Dee's mother in the hospital and Sadie still sick, those plans had to canceled.
Yesterday, Jim got another e-mail from Dave, and he said that they had to have Sadie put to sleep. She was quite old and there was nothing the vet could do for her. Then, he went on to say that Dee Dee is with her mother who is still in the hospital, and they have no idea what will happen as far as their Florida plans go.
Hopefully everything will turn out OK and we'll be able to meet up with them again in about a month. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dave, Dee Dee and Dee Dee's mother.
Oh, and Sadie too. She was a good dog.

A Phone Call From Jeff,Shopping, and A Bad Restaurant Experience
Orange City, FL.
49 deg. clear, W. wind @ 5 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 65 deg. partly sunny, WNW wind @ 10 to 15 mph with 25 mph gusts.
Not much exciting happened yesterday. Both Jim and Linda watched quite a bit football because there wasn't much else on. Jeff, (Jim's son), called from Portland Oregon to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and to thank Jim and Linda for the presents that they sent out there. They had spent Christmas down in Los Angeles with Heather's sisters and her parents, and it sounds like they had a very good time.
I don't know what Jim and Jeff talk about when they get on the phone, but they always talk for a very long time. I think they talked for about an hour and a half yesterday. They don't talk very often, so I guess they're just catching up. ;-)
About 2:00 yesterday afternoon, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed over to Walgreen's. Jim needed a few things, and Linda bought some Christmas wrapping paper and supplies because all the Christmas stuff was 50% off and she got some good bargains.
About 5:30 Jim and Linda decided to head over to Perkins for dinner. Now, normally they enjoy going there, but last night was another story. It was about 6:05 when they walked into the restaurant. There weren't many people there, so they got seated right away. Then, they waited. It was bout 15 minutes before the waitress finally came around to get their order and then they waited. At one point, when their waitress was bringing out food to another table, she looked at Jim and said, "It's going to be awhile". So, they waited.
Jim is usually pretty understanding in situations like this. Things happen, and sometimes you have to wait awhile, but, when it was about 10 minutes to 7:00 and they still didn't have their food, he was starting to get pretty upset!! He was just about to get up and walk out of the restaurant, when the waitress finally brought out the food. (It was just a couple of minutes before 7:00).
They ate their food, and it was good, but I know Jim didn't enjoy it. He was not a happy camper by this time. So ...... when they checked out at the register and the gal asked Jim how everything was, he told her the food was good but it was unacceptable that they had to wait so long to get it. The gal at the register apologized and told him that this happens every weekend.
What??? This happens every weekend???? Well, being that Jim was already an unhappy camper, he told her that if that was the case, and they were going to treat people like that, she should tell her manager that they had just lost 2 customers. :-(
He paid the bill and he and Linda walked out! I don't know if they'll ever go back to the Perkins in Orange City again!!!
By the time they got back here to the park, Jim was pretty well calmed down, and he and Linda spent the rest of the evening watching TV.
Did you know that about 75% of all New Years eve parties involve 20 people or less?

Holiday Letdown
Orange City, FL.
50 deg. cloudy, N. winds @ 10 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 60 deg. mostly sunny, N winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
What is it about the days right after a big holiday that make you feel kind of blah? You know the feeling. You don't feel like doing anything, nothing much catches your interest, you can't find anything to watch on TV, you can't even find anything good in the cabinet to snack on, and you just don't seem to feel very well.
I call it "Holiday Letdown". For weeks, you've been getting ready for the big holiday, buying things, getting everything organized, planning what you have to do next, planning a big meal, and then trying to get everything to come together at the last minute. Then it's the big day with family and friends, a big party with lots of excitement, a lot of eating, and concerns that all your plans will work out.
Then, it's all over! Done with! All the food is gone, (except a few leftovers), the people are gone, the mess has been cleaned up, and everything has been put away. There's nothing more to plan, nothing to organize, nothing to do.
"Holiday Letdown" ---- Do you have it?
Oh well, there's another holiday coming in just a few days, you'd better get going and start planning. ;-)
Did you know that January 1st was established as the beginning of the New Year by Julius Caesar when he created the julian calendar?

Presents For Full-Time RVers, and A Great Christmas
Orange City, FL.
52 deg. cloudy, light NW winds.
Forecast today = high temp. 66 deg. partly sunny, NW wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
Well, I hope Santa brought you everything wanted this year. If you're a full-time RVer, you probably didn't ask for too much because there's just not much room for "stuff" in your home. In fact, full-timers are constantly fighting the problem of accumulating more things than they have room for. Even if you have the room, there's still the problem of overloading the RV and exceeding it's weight limits. (Not a good thing). :-(
Many RVers prefer gift cards from restaurants or stores. If they are from National chain restaurants, they can be enjoyed where ever they are during their travels, and if they are form large chain stores, they can be used to purchased items that will fit into the RV or even groceries that will be consumed.
About 11:30 CLT (Cute Little Truck) took Jim and Linda over to Marv and Inez's house yesterday. Inez had prepared a full Christmas dinner with all the "fixins" and by all accounts everything was delicious. After eating, the presents under the tree were opened and then everyone sat around and talked for awhile. Jim and Linda stayed until about 3:00 and then came back here to be with me. :-)
Again, Jim and Linda want to thank Marv and Inez for their hospitality. It was very nice of them to include them in their family Christmas gathering.
The rest of the day was spent watching TV, taking naps, eating a light evening meal, and in general just relaxing after a busy couple of days.
Oh, I almost forgot. While Jim and Linda were at Marv and Inez's, Glenn and Jeanette (Linda's brother and his wife), called from Wisconsin to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Then, Linda called Joe in Virginia Beach, VA. to wish him and his family a Merry Christmas, and then after Jim and Linda got back here, Mike called from Apex, NC. Everyone seemed to be having a great Christmas and were enjoying the time with their families. :-)
So, yesterday turned out to be a very good day, spent with and talking to family and friends. It was a great Christmas!!! :-) I hope yours was too!
Today, I have no Idea what's happening. I don't think there are any plans at all. Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see what develops.
Did you know that on this date in 1865, James H. Nason received a patent for a coffee percolator?

Merry Christmas
Orange City, FL
69 deg. partly cloudy, SE wind @ 10 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 77 deg. becoming mostly cloudy, with a 60% chance of showeres and t-storms. SW wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
First of all, I'd like to wish all my followers and very Merry Christmas! I hope today will be one filled with Joy and Happiness. Please take a few minutes to remember the true meaning of Christmas.
.
Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Orange City. We had temperatures in the mid 70's, it was mostly sunny, and there was a little breeze blowing. Today, they are saying on TV that they don't expect any severe weather here, but there is a pretty good chance that we'll have some rain later on, followed up by a cold front that will drop the temperatures down about 15 degrees. I hope the weather where you are at is nice enough that you can be with family and friends today.
.
Yesterday evening, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed over to Laura and Lindsey's. Ashley was there and Anna and Chris were there from South Carolina. A little later in the evening, Marv and Inez (Lindsey's parents), stopped by for awhile and everyone had a good time talking, eating "finger food", and opening presents. It was almost 10:00 before CLT brought them back here to the park, so they must have had a good time. :-)
.
Today, about noon, CLT will be taking Jim and Linda to Marv and Inez's house in DeLand. They'll probably spend most of the afternoon there. It sure is nice of them to invite Jim and Linda to join their family on this special day.
.
Did you know that Christmas became a national holiday in America in 1870?

Twas The Day Before Christmas
Orange City, FL.
54 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. becoming mostly cloudy this afternoon, East winds increasing to 10 to 15 mph.
I hope all of you have all your Christmas shopping done and have everything ready for the big day tomorrow. By what they are saying on the TV, they're still expecting today to be a very busy shopping day around here. If you do need to go out today, be very careful when driving. Many of the people out there will be in a hurry and will be thinking about all the things they still need to do, and will not be thinking about their driving.
You don't need to have an accident today.
Not too much happened around here yesterday. Linda prepared some snack things to take to Laura's today, and to Marv and Inez's tomorrow. The weather was nice so Jim was out and about, talking to the neighbors and riding his bike. For dinner, Jim cooked a couple of burgers on the grill, and Linda made salads and got out chips to go with the burgers.
After dinner, they watched the movie "A Christmas Carol" on TV and then went to bed after the news.
Did you know that the poem, "The Night Before Christmas" was first published anonymously in 1823? It is now generally attributed to Clement Clark Moore, although it has also been claimed that it was written by Henry Livingston Jr.

Forecast today = high temp. 73 deg. mostly sunny, E. wind @ 5 mph.
Like I thought, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed to Winn Dixie yesterday morning. They weren't gone too long and by noon they were back here and putting groceries away. From what I can tell, they pretty much only bought the items that were on their list this time, and didn't come back with a lot of extra items. :-)
After lunch, Jim took a little nap and then because the weather was so nice, he went outside and did some things. The first thing he did was check CLT's other plastic vent piece, (the plastic piece between the hood and the windshield), and found out that it was loose and was about to come off like the other one did somewhere between Georgia and here. Well, he took it off, found some different kind of clips and fastened it down with screws. (The old clips that hold it down were plastic and were broken).
After he got done with that, he removed the metal grill on my right side, way back by my engine,(not an easy task as there are about 20 screws holding it on), and removed my air cleaner element to check it out. It still looked good and didn't need replacement, so he put it back in and put everything back together again.
By the time he finished with that, it was starting to get chilly outside and it was getting close to dinner time, so he put his tools away and came inside.
For dinner, Linda just heated up some salisbury steak TV dinners that they had picked up at the grocery store. They were on sale for $1 each and Jim and Linda both said that for a buck, they weren't too bad.
After dinner, they both watched TV again until bedtime.
Did you know that in 1843, "A Christmas Carol" was written by Charles Dickens in just six weeks?

No Ambition and The Last Prescription
Orange City, FL.
44 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 68 deg. mostly sunny, N wind @ 5 mph.
Neither Jim or Linda seemed to have much ambition yesterday. It was fairly cool outside so Jim didn't go out much. He did go for a little bike ride and take the garbage down to the dumpster, but that's all. Linda did some "family tree" research on the Internet, found a few things and then recorded them in her program on the other computer.
Both Linda and Jim took little naps in the afternoon, and then about 4:30, they headed over to Walgreen's and picked up that last prescription that they ordered. (for the second time). From there, CLT (Cute Little Truck) took them to Arby's where they had roast beef sandwiches for dinner.
During the evening, they just watched TV until the news was over and then they went to bed.
This morning, I think they're going to head to Winn Dixie to pick up a few groceries. Linda needs to pick up some items so she can make a few things to take to Marv and Inez's on Christmas Day. Other than that, I don't think there are any plans.

Official Start of Winter, Clean Up Myrddin Day, and Laura Stops By
Orange City, FL.
41 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 61 deg. partly sunny, NW wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
Winter officially starts at 12:47 PM EST today, but for the most part, I think most people think it started awhile back. With the cold weather and snow storms that have crossed the northern part of the US in past weeks and the cold rainy weather in the southern sections, it's hard to believe that winter isn't here already.
Today, is also the day with the least amount of daylight. Some people say that it's the shortest day of the year, but that's really not quite right. The day still has 24 hours in it, and is exactly the same length as all the other days. I for one am glad that from here on, the amount daylight we have will be getting longer. I don't like all of this darkness and the cold weather that comes with it. Give me a good old sunny day with those warm temperatures, that the days with more daylight bring. :-)
Yesterday was "Clean Up Myrddin Day". Jim and Linda spent most of the day cleaning the inside of me and getting some cabinets reorganized. They also put away the Christmas wrapping paper, ribbon and wrapping supplies that were scattered about in me. Actually they put the Christmas stuff in a cabinet in the bedroom for now. It'll get put in a box in my basement when the decorations are put away after the holidays.
Sometime during the afternoon, Laura called and said that she was out shopping, and said that if she had time, she'd stop by for awhile later. I really didn't think she was going to make it, but about 6:00 she pulled into my site and came in to visit. She had been shopping all day, and was really beat, so she didn't stay too long, but it was sure good to see her again. She said she still has more shopping to do, but has to work 12 hour shifts both today and tomorrow, so that means she'll have to try to finish Wednesday and Thursday.
I think that's cutting it a little close.
Oh, and Wednesday, Anna and Chris will be getting to her house from South Carolina, so I'm sure Laura will want to spend as much time as possible with them.
As for Jim and Linda, I think they're about done with things they have to do before Christmas. The last of the Christmas cards were sent Saturday, and about all that's left is for Jim to send some e-cards to a few more people. Oh, I almost forgot, Linda says she wants to bake some cookies to take to Laura's when they go there to open presents. And, it sounds like they'll be going to Lindsey's parents house, (Marv and Inez's) Christmas day, so she'll want to make something to take there too.
That's fine with me. When Linda bakes or cooks, it always make me smell so good inside! ;-)

Soap Box, Prescriptions, and A Great Meal
Orange City, FL.
44 deg. clear, West wind @ 10 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 59 deg. partly sunny, West wind @ 15 mph.
The police in Orlando are trying to educate the public on what to do to keep from having items stolen from cars while parked at malls or shopping centers during this Holiday season. They are telling the people that they should roll up all their car windows and lock the doors. They are also saying that you should not leave items like GPS units, cell phones and computers laying on the dash or seat of the car, and finally they are saying that Christmas presents that you buy should be put in the trunk of the car and not left out in plain view.
The police then go on to say that about 70% of all the items stolen from cars in these malls and shopping centers are from cars that don't have their doors locked!!
Now, my question is what has happened to common sense? Why in the world would you not lock you car doors, or roll up the windows? Would you really leave a GPS unit, cell phone, computer, or Christmas presents laying around in plain view, and not expect a burglar to steal them?
In my opinion, if you haven't locked the doors or rolled up the windows and you have something stolen from you car, you deserve it!! Don't get on the news and cry about all you kids Christmas presents being stolen!!! It's your own fault if you don't use a little common sense!!!
OK! I'll get off of my soap box now. Sorry about that.
Jim and Linda took CLT and went back to the Walgreen's store to pick up Linda's prescriptions yesterday. The one medication that they ordered still wasn't there. Come to find out, there was no follow-up on ordering the med that they were out of, and so now they re-ordered it, and it should be in on Monday afternoon.
Now, I've been up on my soap box once already today, so I won't say too much here, but why was there no follow-up? Incompetence?
Luckily, Linda has enough of the medication to last her until the ordered ones arrive.
For dinner yesterday, Linda cooked some cube steaks, rice and baked beans on my stove. She also made gravy to go over the rice and meat, and again, it sure smelled good. Evidently it really tasted good too, because I heard Jim tell Linda how much he enjoyed the meal. :-)
Did you know that according to the "Christmas Price Index" compiled by PNC Wealth Management, the costs of the "12 Days of Christmas" presents would be $87,403?

Brrrrrr!!!! and Linda's Famous "TV Mix"
Orange City, FL.
48 deg. mostly cloudy, NW winds @ 18 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 66 deg. partly sunny, W. wind @ 15 to 20 mph.
Brrrrrr!!!!! It sure feels cold here this morning. Oh, I know it's not near as cold as it is up North, but when the temperature down here in Florida gets down into the 30's and 40's with the high humidity and the 18 mph winds were having this morning, it feels really cold!
It rained off and on all day yesterday. The temperatures weren't too bad, but with the rain and wind that was blowing, not many people ventured outside. Then in the evening, we had another like of showers go through. It was still in the 60's when Jim and Linda went to bed, but then the temps started to fall during the night.
Linda made some of her famous, (to the family), "TV Mix" yesterday afternoon. It's kind of like that Chex Mix stuff that you buy in the store, but her mix has 3 or 4 kinds of cereal, an assortment of nuts, and her special sauce that she put on it. She bakes it all in the oven, mixing it every 20 minutes or so and adding more sauce until it gets the proper taste.
I don't know what all is in the sauce, but after baking the mix for a couple of hours, I sure smelled good inside! ;-)
I'll bet that mix won't last long when Laura and Ashley find out that she made it.
Did you know that if you received all the gifts in the song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas," you would receive 364 gifts?

A Really Exciting Day! "Not"
Orange City, FL.
66 deg. cloudy, NE wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 78 deg, cloudy with periods of heavy rain and t-storms. W. winds @ 15 to 20 mph with 35 mph gusts.
Doesn't sound like the weather is going to be very nice today. Right now, there are storms all around us, but it's not even raining here. Jim rolled up all my awnings yesterday because they were forecasting possible high winds last night. Out along the coast, they already have tornado warnings issued.
I hope they stay out there.
About all that happened here yesterday was that Linda did a load of laundry in my washer/dryer, and then about 4:30 Jim and Linda took CLT and went to the Perkins restaurant for dinner. Then, after diner, on the way back here to the park, Jim bought CLT a nice drink of gasoline.
Another really exciting day!
Oh, Oh, it just started raining here and by the look of the radar, we're in for heavy rain for most of the day. Hmmm, probably a good day for a nap, ;-)
Did you know that the song "Jingle Bells" was originally written for Thanksgiving but then became on of the most popular Christmas songs?

Re-leveling and Seven Visits Me
Orange City, FL.
63 deg. cloudy, NE wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 71 deg. mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain. E. wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
.
About 10:00 Jim fired up my engine so I could pump up my air bags to raise myself off of my leveling jacks. This was done for 2 reasons. First, the man at HWH, (the place that made my hydraulic levelers), told Jim that my levelers need to be exercised once a month when I am parked someplace for a long time, and Second, my rear leveling jacks were sinking into the sand and I was not real level any more. So, after I got my air pumped up, and got my levelers retracted, Jim poured some gravel in the holes where they had sunk in. Then he pushed my leveling button and I re-leveled myself. Now, I'm all set for another month. :-)
.
I had an unexpected visit from Seven yesterday. Who's Seven, you ask? Well, Seven is Laura, Lindsey and Ashley's dog, and Laura and Ashley brought her by to visit me about 11:30. :-) She was a little nervous being here at the park because she normally stays close to home to guard the house and doesn't get out much. Also, Laura and Ashley had just taken her to the Doggy Doctor where she had gotten some shots and a complete check-up, so that didn't help either.
.
Seven is a very nice dog and is very well behaved. Like I said, she was a little nervous and did some pacing around when she first got here, but calmed down after awhile.
I'll bet your wondering about her name. Well, it's really quite simple. She was the seventh pup born out of a litter of 8, and so Ashley named her Seven!
.
Makes sense doesn't it?
.
Anyway, Seven, Laura and Ashley stayed for about an hour and a half and then headed back to the house so Seven could resume her guard duties. It was a real nice unexpected visit, especially since I had never met Seven before.
.
Now, I can't verify this, but on the radio yesterday, this is what they said.
Did you know that 1 out of 5 people will injure themselves opening a bubble wrapped present this holiday season?
.
They were talking about the items that come from the store totally encased in plastic and you have to use an knife or scissors to open them, so please be careful.

A Whole Month and A Trip To Walgreen's
Orange City, FL.
66 deg. partly cloudy, N. winds @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 74 deg. mostly cloudy, NE wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
Can you believe that we've been here in Orange City for a whole month already? Yep, we got here on the 15th of Nov. It's been a good stay so far, and I think I can manage another month and a half parked here in this site.
Yesterday afternoon, Jim and Linda took CLT and went to the Walgreen's store in Deltona to get Linda's prescriptions refilled. They had to order one of her medicines, so they'll have to go back either today or tomorrow to pick them up. Deltona is the city that is just East of I-4, and believe it or not, the Walgreen's there is actually closer to where we are than the one in Orange City.
Other than that, not much else happened around here. Jim and Linda both took naps in the afternoon, and then Linda heated up some left-over pork roast and dressing, and prepared the last of the asparagus for dinner.
Then it was TV and computers until bedtime.
Another really exciting day!! ;-)
Oh, one of my readers asked if Laura was a nurse? Yes, she's an RN and works at Halifax in Daytona Beach.
Did you know that the first artificial Christmas trees were made in Germany? They were made out of goose feathers and dyed green.

They're Gone and Another Lunch With Laura
Orange City, FL.
65 deg. dense fog, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 84 deg. heavy fog until 10:00 then becoming partly cloudy with SW winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
They're gone!!! Yep, they're finally gone. What's gone, you ask? The Christmas presents that have been filling all my floor/counter space have been sent away!!!! :-)
Ahhhh!!! it feels so good not to be all cluttered up with boxes and bags!!
Jim and Linda were getting ready to head to the UPS store when the phone rang yesterday morning. It was Laura, and she was calling from her car over in Daytona Beach. She had gone over there to take some kind of class that is required for her work, but when she got there, she found out that there had been a mistake, (on the hospital's part), and she had already taken the class that they were having.
She was not a happy camper after driving all the way over there for nothing!!!! :-(
Anyway, she was hungry and wanted to know if Jim and Linda would like to meet her for lunch in DeLand? Well, any excuse to get together with Laura is always good, so about 11:00 they headed to the Mainstreet Grill, in beautiful down-town DeLand.
Linda had been there once before, with Laura, (a couple of years ago), but Jim had never been there. It's right in the center of DeLand, but there is a large parking lot next to the restaurant, so parking was not an issue. Anyway, from what I heard, the food was excellent and they had a very nice visit with Laura before coming back here to the CG.
At about 3:00, after getting all the packages put into bags, they headed over to the UPS store and sent off all the presents. CLT said that when they got there, there weren't too many people waiting, so in about an hour, they were back here at the CG again.
Because they had a large lunch, Jim and Linda just ate sandwiches for dinner. Then, they watched TV and played with the computers until bedtime.
Did you know that "Rudolph" was actually created by Montgomery Ward in the late 1930's for a holiday promotion?

5 to More Than 20?
Orange City, FL.
66 deg. fog, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 85 deg. mostly sunny, SE wind @ 5 mph.
About 11:00 yesterday morning, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed to Winn Dixie to get a few groceries. Out of the 5 items on their list, the most important things were bread and lettuce. I didn't think it would take them long because how long can it take to pick up those two items and a few more? Well, when they got back here, they had over 20 items, and it had taken them about an hour and a half.
Now, the question I have is how did that grocery list grow from 5 item to more than 20? I'm sure that once they got to the store, they thought of a few things that they had forgotten to write down on the list, but what about the other 15 to 20 items? Did they really need them? Were they impulse items that they saw and decided that they needed? Or, were some of the items they purchased, bought just because they decided they just wanted them, even though they really didn't need them?
I think a little of all of the above. ;-)
So, anyway, after they got all of those groceries put away, they watched football on TV, took naps, and then Jim cooked a nice big steak out on his grill for dinner. While he was cooking the steak, Linda prepared some asparagus and made some mushroom gravy to go over some left-over rice.
It all really smelled good, and they both said that everything tasted really good. :-)
After dinner it was more TV until bedtime.

A Little Let-Down?
Orange City, FL.
67 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 84 deg. mostly sunny, humid SW wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
It was a real slow day around here yesterday. I think it's probably a little let-down after working so hard to get all of the Christmas presents, and then get them all wrapped and ready to be sent off.
It seems that there is a let-down after you get any major job or activity done. I know it's even like that with me after I get to a destination at the end of a long trip. For instance, when we were on our way down here, I was excited to get to Joe's and once I was parked in their driveway, I just sat there for a day or so and didn't want to do anything at all. The same thing happened after we got to Mike's, then to Anna's, and finally here. Oh, and when we went all the way out to Oregon last year, and Jim pulled me into that CG near Jeff's, I didn't want to do anything for 3 or 4 days!
Last night, Jim and Linda took CLT and went to the Steak 'n Shake restaurant for dinner. Then, they came back here and watched a movie on TV called "The Polar Express". After that was over, they watched the news before going to bed.
A real exciting day, Huh?

Laura Stops By
Orange City, FL.
64 deg. cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 78 deg. mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of a shower, E. wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
Laura stopped by for a little while yesterday. She's been really busy and she was on her way to the store when she left here. She did take all the Christmas presents that Jim and Linda had for her family, so now at least there's some room inside of me to move around. :-)
Today and tomorrow, she's working again, so it'll be at least Monday before we see here again, and then I know she'll have bunches of things to do to get ready for Christmas.
I don't think Jim and Linda have anything planned for today. They still need to get the rest of the presents sent off, but because of the crowds on Saturday, I don't think they'll try to do that until the first of next week.
Did you know that the first U.S. president to decorate the White House Christmas tree was Franklin Pierce?

Finished At Last
Orange City, FL.
53 deg. mostly cloudy, N winds @ 10 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 59 deg. mostly cloudy, 20% chance of rain, NE wind @ 10 mph.
The last present was wrapped yesterday afternoon, and now all the presents are sitting here awaiting to be sent to different family members across the country. I don't know just when they'll get sent off because today, Laura is off work and Jim and Linda may get together with her if she's not too busy. If they are able to get together with her, and she has her Christmas tree set up, they'll get her family's presents over there and that will help with the over-crowding problem I have inside of me right now. :-)
Other than finishing up the presents, not much happened around here. It rained most of the day, and the sun never did peek out from behind the clouds so it was not a day to do anything outside.
For dinner, Linda just heated up some Arby's roast beef sanwiches that were in the freezer, put together a salad for Jim, and got out some chips to with the sanwiches.
After eating, they watched TV until it was bedtime.

The Last Present, The Salvage Yard, and Lunch With Laura
Orange City, FL.
73 deg. cloudy, SW winds at 8 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 73 deg. with falling temps throughout the day. becoming partly cloudy, Wind becoming NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Didn't post yesterday because absolutely nothing happened on Tuesday. Yesterday, Jim and Linda decided that it was finally time to get that last Christmas present so Linda could finish up the wrapping and they could get everything ready to send off to the appropriate places.
So.... off to Target they went in CLT (Cute Little Truck), and in no time had the present. Then, Jim decided that they would try to find the Auto Salvage Yard here in Orange City to find CLT a plastic vent piece that flew off somewhere between Beverly Beach and here.
Oh I'm sorry, didn't I tell you about that? Well, this is the plastic piece on the cowl, (between his hood and windshield) where the air gets drawn in for the heater and air conditioner. We don't know what happened, but when we got here one of the 2 plastic pieces was missing and Jim had to put some duct tape over the opening to stop the sticks and leaves from going down into the heater/AC.
Well, anyway, they found the Salvage Yard and Jim was able to get a replacement part that's not exactly the same, but fits in the opening, and will work just fine. (It cost him a whole $5).
While they were at the Salvage Yard, Laura called and was wondering if Jim and Linda would like to get together for lunch someplace. Well, she was headed towards the area where Jim and Linda were at, so it was decided that they would meet at the Pier 16 Seafood restaurant which is on US 17 here in Orange City. Well anyway, they met there, had a very nice lunch and sat and visited for awhile. ;-)
After they got back here to the CG, Jim installed the plastic piece on CLT and then took a nap. Linda wrapped some more presents, they both had sandwiches for supper, and then they watched TV until bedtime.
Another good day. :-)

Shopping, An Unexpected Shower and Back To Cheapa Pizza
Orange City, FL.
68 deg. mostly cloudy, light Easterly winds.
Forecast today = high temp. 84 deg. partly cloudy, slight chance of afternoon shower, SE winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
By about 10:00 or so yesterday, the rain was pretty much over, and by 12:30 when Jim and Linda took CLT and headed to Office Depot to get some ink cartridges for the printer, it was still mostly cloudy, but there were breaks in the clouds, letting the sun shine through in places. They were also hoping that they could find that last Christmas present there too, but couldn't find anything suitable, so they headed over to Publix to buy some groceries.
They'll have to go out again today or tomorrow to find the present. :-(
When they came out of Publix, the realized that there had been a pretty heavy rain shower pass through and everything was very wet.
OK, now I can hear you saying, "So what? That shouldn't make any difference". Well, you see, Linda had done some laundry and had hung it out on the clothes rack to dry before they left, and also, both of my roof vents were wide open. Now the one in the kitchen closes automatically when it rains, but the one in the bathroom does not!
Well, we lucked out!! It only sprinkled a little here at the RV Park and there wasn't any wind, so the clothes were OK and there was hardly any water at all in my bathroom. :-)
I hope Jim and Linda learned their lesson. It's not unusual to have a rain shower during the afternoon down here in Florida, so it's always smart to close vents and bring things inside that could get damaged by wind or rain when going away for awhile.
For dinner, Jim and Linda took CLT and went over to Cheapa Pizza, which if you remember, is just across the street from the Park entrance. Again, they said the pizza was very good, and brought the left-overs back and put them in my freezer to be reheated at a later date.
Today I don't know of any plans that they have. They may go out and try to find that last Christmas present.

Promised Photos and Too Tired
Orange City, FL.
62 deg. cloudy, light rain, no wind
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. becoming partly cloudy by noon, NE winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
.
Well, here they are. What's here, you ask? Why the photos of my presents that Laura brought of course! :-) Don't know what to look for? Well, check out my mirrors and the cute little Santa Claus hats on top of them!!!
You see, one day when Laura came out here to the park to see us, she spotted another Motor Home with hats like these on the mirrors and though it was really cute, so she decided to get me some too. Well, Ashley was at one of those "Dollar" type stores and found these and bought them for me.
Thanks, Laura and Ashley, I really like them and will always think of you when I have them on my mirrors.

I don't know where this rain came from this morning. They sure weren't forecasting anything yesterday. Oh well, if it clears up this afternoon, it won't be too bad.
.
Linda was busy wrapping presents most of the day yesterday. Jim fooled around a little outside. I thought Laura and Lindsey might come over, or that Jim and Linda would go to their house, but Laura was busy cleaning house and putting up decorations all day, and when Linda talked to her about 4:00 she was very tired and just wanted to sit and relax for the evening.
.
I can relate to that. That's how I feel after a day of climbing mountains or heavy Interstate traffic.
.
For dinner, Jim cooked a brat and a hot dog on the grill and Linda cooked some cauliflower on my stove.
.
If this weather clears up like it's supposed to, I think Jim and Linda are going to go and see if they can get that last Christmas Present. Jim says that they need a new ink cartridge for the printer too, so it may take them awhile.

A Rainy Morning and Laura Brings Me Presents
Orange City, FL.
46 deg. clear, NW wind @ 8 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 69 deg. mostly sunny, NE winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
It rained until about noon yesterday and then it was cloudy and misty until about 3 in the afternoon, when the sun finally started peeking from behind the clouds. Jim was outside for awhile, but it wasn't very nice even after the sun came out because of the low temperatures and wind.
Laura called in the middle of the afternoon to make sure Jim and Linda were around and not busy because she wanted to stop by for a little while. She had been out doing some shopping and was in the area. I think it was about 4:00 when she got here and she stayed for about an hour and a half. :-)
OH, and Laura brought me a couple presents!!! If I can, I'll get Jim to take a photo of them today and post it here tomorrow!!
For dinner, Linda heated up some left-over beef stew that she had made a couple of days ago. Jim says it's a funny thing about home made beef stew, it lots of times tastes even better after it's heated up for the second time, and it was really good the first time! :-)
Don't know what's going on today. I do know that Laura is not working this weekend, so maybe Jim and Linda will be getting together with her and Lindsey. The weather looks like it will be much better, so Jim may try to get some outside stuff done, but I don't know, I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
In any case, I'll let you know on my next blog post. ;-)

Holiday Decorations and One More Present
Orange City, FL.
62 deg.. cloudy, rain, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 63 deg. cloudy, rain this morning then cloudy this afternoon. NW winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
Here's a photo of my little Christmas tree that Laura and Ashley helped decorate. I'm pretty small, so I don't have a lot of other decorations, but I do have a couple of wreaths on my windows, garland over my windows and a string of pretty lights on my dash which are running along the bottom of my windshield. I also have a nice wreath on the front of me, (outside), and pretty red bows fastened to my outside rear-view mirrors.
.
.
Linda spent most of the day wrapping presents and while she was doing that, she realized that she didn't have a present for one person. So now she and Jim will have to go to a store to buy one more present. I kind of doubt if they'll be going today though, there's still some time left and I don't think they really want to go on the weekend.

It rained all day yesterday, so like I thought, not much happened here. I don't know just how much rain we had, but the people on the TV are saying that we had a couple of inches.

Catching Up, and The Non-Storm
Orange City, FL.
55 deg. cloudy, light rain.
Forecast today = high temp. 63 deg. cloudy, rain, N. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Well, I'll try to get you caught up on what's been happening lately. First of all, both Monday and Tuesday, I was not able to get on the Internet. Jim thinks it's because of all the Internet sales that the stores were having, but I don't know for sure.
Then, Laura stopped by and was wondering when Jim and Linda were going to put up my Christmas decorations. (She wanted to come over and help. It's become kind of a tradition). :-) It was decided that the next day would work, so early in the morning, Jim started digging out the decorations that of course were in the deepest reaches of my basement. After removing about 1/2 of the stuff from my basement, he finally found all of them. Then, after Laura and Ashley came over and helped put up all the decorations, all empty boxes had to be put back in their place until they were again needed to put the decorations back away.
Thanks Laura and Ashley, you made it a fun time. :-)
Jim took a couple photos of some of my decorations, (and I'll post them on here soon), but he hasn't transferred them to the computer yet.
Wednesday, Jim and Linda had to go shopping to get some last minute Christmas gifts and a few groceries, and of course there was the non-storm that was supposed to bring hail, strong winds and possible tornadoes, that didn't materialize. Of course all the lawn chairs, awnings, grill and anything else sitting outside had to be put away because if the storm did come, everything would get blown away.
Yesterday wasn't a bad day, but nobody seemed to have any ambition, so not much got done around here. I doubt if much will get done today either as they are forecasting rain all day, and even the first half of tomorrow. However they are not forecasting any severe weather.
So..... as you can see, it's been pretty busy around here.
Again, I'd like to thank all the people who inquired about me during the last few days. I didn't mean to alarm anyone. Between not being able to get on the Internet and getting busy with Christmas stuff, I just didn't get around to posting.
