Virginia Beach, VA.
62 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 88 deg. sunny, SW wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
Happy Columbus Day!!!!
Yeah, I know, I didn't post yesterday, but nothing really happened to post about. Saturday, Joe was doing some work on the house and Jim took on the part of "go-for" for him, Nancy had someplace she had to go, and the girls, (being teenagers), were doing their "thing". :-)
Yesterday both Joe and Nancy were busy. Joe helps crew a sail boat that races on the Chesapeake, and they had a race yesterday, (came in second), and Nancy and Amber went to Nancy's sister's house to help her move to a new house. And Sami? Well she did her "thing" with a couple of her friends.
So, Jim and Linda have been watching TV, playing and doing family tree research on the computers, taking naps, and just enjoying the great weather that we're still having here in VA Beach.
Today everyone will be working or in school. (Nancy has already left for work.) Jim and Linda have been putting together a grocery list, so maybe they'll go grocery shopping, but for the most part, they'll just be waiting for everyone to get home this evening so that they can spend more time with them.
Oh, I forgot!! Jim did defrost my ice maker on Saturday!! His big job for the day. ;-)
Did you know that Christopher Columbus may be famous today as an explorer, but he died in 1506 in poverty with most of his achievements basically forgotten?

The Weather? and A Few Photos
Virginia Beach, VA.
66 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 77 deg. partly cloudy, 40% chance of a t-storm, SW wind @ 15 to 20 mph.
I don't know about this weather forecast. Yesterday, they were forecasting a 70% chance of t-storms and possible heavy rain, and I think we had 13 drops of rain all day. Now, today, they're forecasting a 40% chance of t-storms, so I'm wondering if we'll even have any clouds? I've talked about this before, but I'm still wondering how someone can keep their job with such a low percentage of accuracy? I know that If my mechanic did even 30% of the work on me wrong, Jim wouldn't take me back there again, but I'm sure that some of these weather people are only right about 50% of the time. :-(
Since the weather was so nice yesterday, Jim rode his bike some, helped Joe get the above ground pool in the back yard ready for use, and took a few photos of the beautiful azaleas that the neighbor down the street has. They're in full bloom right now, and many people in this area have them planted in their yards.
He also took this photo of Sami, lying on the floor and doing some drawing for a school project.
This one of Joe, talking to Linda.
And this one of Sarah.
She's a good old dog. :-)
I'm sure that soon, he'll get photos of Nancy and Amber too, but hasn't had the chance so far.
The rest of the day was spent visiting with Joe and his family, watching TV and eating another delicious meal that Nancy prepared.
Did you know that over 10,000 different Azalea plants have been registered or named?

Helping Out and Storms
Rantoul, IL
66 deg. cloudy, rain, thunder, light winds.
Forecast today = high temp. 85 deg. mostly cloudy, t-storms likely with some them becoming severe, S. winds @ 5 to 10 mph, with high gusts of 60 mph in t-storms.
Yesterday morning Jim drained and flushed out my water heater. Then, helped a little around here at the CG. He helped Paul level out some gravel that had been brought into a site across the street from me, then later in the day, he got out the little lawn mower that Paul and Louise have and trimmed up the grass around my site and the sites next to me, where the big mowers can't get to.
The rest of the day was spent pretty much inside, as it got quite warm, with high humidity in the afternoon.
Today, I doubt if much will get done around here. I have been watching the radar on this computer and there is a huge red/orange blob of weather moving towards us. It really looks like we may be in for quite a storm if it holds together. In fact, now the gal on TV is talking about a tornado warning out West of here. It is moving towards the SW, so it may pass to the South of us.
I hope so.
At any rate, I'm going to get off of here and watch the weather. It looks like at the very least, we're in for a lot of thunder and lightning.
Did you know that the idea of Father's Day was first conceived by Sonora Dodd of Spokane Washington, to honor her father in 1910.
