Lakeland, FL.
61 deg. scattered clouds, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. partly cloudy, E. wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
Absolutely nothing happened here in the parking lot at Creative Coach yesterday, but Jim and Linda had a busy afternoon.
"What did they do", you ask?
Well, Saturday morning when Jim dumped my tanks, he had some leaks at the sewer hose connections. And, after further inspection he found that the little rubber seals in the hose ends were getting bad. So,...... being that there was nothing going on here, he and Linda decided to take CLT and head down to the Camping World store in Seffner, FL. and buy some new hose ends.
It's only about 30 miles from here to Seffner, so it was a nice drive down there with moderate traffic on I-4. Once there, they found the hose connectors they needed, a couple of replacement water filters, (they were on sale, so Jim bought 2 of them), and a set of those snap-in screens for my ceiling vent fans, so Jim doesn't have to remove all those little screws every time the screens and fans need cleaning.
Then after wandering around in the store, and determining that there wasn't anything else that they couldn't live without, they headed back here. On the way, they got talking about a stopping for bread and milk somewhere, and decided that it would be best to stop at a grocery store as they needed a few other things that they wouldn't be able to find at a convenience store.
So, when they got back here to Lakeland, they stopped at a Publix store and bought what they needed.
It was about 3:00 by the time they returned, and by the time they had everything put away, Jim and Linda were both ready for naps. ;-)
For dinner, Linda heated up some chicken that she had bought at the grocery store deli, put together some salads, and got out some chips. Then it was TV again until bedtime.
Not a real exciting day, but at least Jim and Linda got out of here for awhile.
Did you know that it was on this date in 1963 that John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, was assassinated while traveling through Dallas, Texas, in an open-top convertible?
Do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news? Both Jim and Linda said that they remember exactly where they were and what they were doing at the time.

Never Forget
Rantoul, IL
52 deg. cloudy, light rain.
Forecast today = high temp. 72 deg, mostly cloudy with showers this morning. Light westerly winds.
Never Forget
Did you remember that on September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States? Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to as 9/11, the attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters.

Groceries and Packing Them Away
Orange City, FL.
65 deg., overcast, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 82 deg. mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain. E. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Jim and Linda took CLT, (Cute Little Truck), and headed to the Winn Dixie in Deltona yesterday morning. By a little after noon, they were back here putting away all the groceries they had bought.
I don't know why it is, but humans always seem to think RVs have more storage space than they do. Every time Jim and Linda go shopping they bring back more groceries than will easily fit into my cabinets and other storage areas, and from what I've heard from other RVs, they're not alone! It seems that they always have to repack the merchandise or re-arrange a cabinet to get everything in, and sometimes, there's just not room for everything. It sits on the floor or counter top until there's room, or gets used. :-(
Jim and Linda seem to especially have difficulties with my freezer space. They like to have different types of meat to grill or cook, Jim likes to have extra lunch meat for sandwiches in there, and then there are the frozen biscuits and vegetables that Linda likes to have on hand. And.... we can't forget the ice cream for Linda. ;-)
Oh well, they always seem to get everything packed away one way or another, and I sure don't want to be complaining, because I can still remember what it was like, sitting in that used RV lot before Jim and Linda bought me. I didn't have anything in my fridge, or in any of my cabinets or storage areas, and I'm here to tell you, it sure didn't feel good.
Talk about an empty feeling!!!! :-(
So.... bring on those groceries and other items to be stored in me. We'll get them in somehow, and I won't complain one little bit.
It just feels so good to be needed. :-)
Did you know that of the Pilgrims who sailed on the Mayflower in 1620, only half had survived by the fall of 1621? Thankful to be alive they decided to give a thanksgiving feast.

9/11 and The "To Do Before We Leave" List
Rantoul, IL
62 deg. clear, NE wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 81 deg. mostly sunny, E. wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
9/11 Where were you on this date in 2001? I'm sure you'll never forget where you were, but we tend to forget just how devastating it was. We also tend to let down our guard and think that it can never happen again. Well, it can, and we must always be on the alert for suspicious or unusual things.
Please take a moment to remember all the Americans that lost their lives on this date in 2001.
Jim has been working on his "to do before we leave" list. He's got about 1/2 of the items crossed off, but he keeps on thinking of new things that need to be done before we leave, so it's taking awhile to get it all done. I'm not worried though, I know he'll get all the really important things done before we leave.
Not much happening here in the park. A lot of Excel 5th wheel trailers came in yesterday, for a rally. I haven't been able to count them, but there's quite a few. They're all down at the other end of the park so their owners can use the shelter.
There should be one more smaller group coming in yet this weekend, and Louise says that they'll be across the street from me.
Today, I think that CLT, (Cute Little Truck), is going to take Jim and Linda down to Champaign to do some shopping. Linda wants to go to the fabric store and Jim needs a few things from Menards.
Did you know that, (including 24 presumed dead and 19 hijackers), 3,017 people died in the 9/11 attacks?

The Class Reunion, A Little Glitch, And A Fun Time
Rantoul, IL.
66 deg. light fog, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 88 deg. mostly sunny with a 30% chance of t-storms this afternoon and a 50% chance of t-storms tonight. S. winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
Friday evening, CLT took Jim and Linda to the restaurant in Rockdale where the reunion for the class of "59" was being held. Jim said the meal was excellent, but the reunion with his old classmates was even better. He said he thoroughly enjoyed seeing most of his classmates again.
Now, the plan for yesterday was to go to the City Park in Peotone for some social time and a pizza party. Well, there was a little glitch. It seems that there was a problem with the "facilities" at the park, plus, they were forecasting temps close to 90 degrees. So, they decided to move the pizza party and social time to the pizza restaurant in town. Well, all that's fine, but then where do you park a 40' Motor Home, near a restaurant that has a small parking lot?
Well, one of Jim's best friends and one of the "Illinois Bunch", Denny, came to the rescue!! Yep, Jim called Denny and asked him where he thought he could park me, and after a little planning, it was decided that I could park right out in front of his house!! That was really nice of him.
Soooo, we left Joliet about 9:30 and headed back West on US 6, turned South on I-55, and followed it down to Wilmington, IL. where we turned East on a County Road that Jim and Linda knew about, and then took the Peotone Wilmington Rd East, to Peotone. Of course Jim know exactly where Denny lived, so he drove me right up in front of the house and parked me on the street.
As soon a we pulled up in front of the house, Denny came out and greeted us. He also suggested that Jim pull me ahead a little so I would be far enough away from the fire hydrant which was to the rear of me. (Didn't want any trouble with the police). Well, after pulling me ahead, getting me leveled (with my air system), and thanking Denny, Jim unhooked CLT from the back of me. By this time it was about 10:45, so he and Linda took CLT and headed over to the restaurant.
Now, from what I can gather, the pizza party turned out to be really fun. The pizza was good, many of the classmates were there, and everyone was seated close enough so that everyone could talk about old times at school. ;-) About 1:30 the party stared breaking up, so Jim and Linda said their good-bye's, came back to Denny's, hooked up CLT to the back of me, and then we left for Rantoul.
Now, I-57 runs just to the West of Peotone, so we got on it, and then followed it right down here to Rantoul. By the time we got back here to the Prairie Pines CG, it was 3:10, and I had traveled 119 miles.
A good stretch of the old shocks!! :-)
All in all, it was a good little trip. Jim and Linda had fun, and I got rid of my itchy tire condition. Just what we all needed.
Did you know that Seattle, Washington, like Rome, was built on seven hills?
Thanks Denny and Bev, for letting me park in front of your house. Hope you get over your cold, Bev.

Joe and Nancy's Busy Weekend and Rambling
Virginia Beach, VA
64 deg. clear, light SW breeze.
Forecast today = high temp. 86 deg, clear, SW wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
I know, I didn't post and entry yesterday, but I really didn't have anything to write about. About the only thing that happened Sunday was that Jim cooked some steaks on his little grill for dinner. Joe, Nancy, and the girls were busy with things that they need to get done around the house on weekends, when they're not working or going to school. Yesterday, everyone was working or going to school, and the only thing happened was that they all got together for dinner.
Jim says he remembers that time in his life when he would work all week, and then on the weekends he would be mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, or repairing something on or in the house. And then, there were the remodeling projects, hobbies, or working on the cars! In fact, he says that he was so busy trying to take care of all his "stuff" that he really didn't enjoy that "stuff".
I wonder what it is about humans that makes them want to collect all those things. They work and work to get it, and then work and work to maintain it and keep it. For the most part, they are so busy working that they don't have time to enjoy any of it. For instance, they landscape their yards and then spend so much time working on it that they don't have time to sit back and enjoy it.
One of the big news items around Virginia Beach, has been the 90 degree weather we've been having. It's way to early in the season to be having temperatures that high, and it's normally it's around 70 at this time of the year. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to change though, and of course that means a cold front is coming through, which will probably bring rain and possibly storms.
Well, I'd better go. I've been rambling on long enough.
I hope you have great day, wherever you are. :-)

Ready For Christmas, Wind and The True Meaning
Deming, NM El. 4335'
38 deg. Partly cloudy, SW winds @ 7 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 54 deg. partly cloudy, SW wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
"Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house". Well, it's not the night yet, but it is the day before Christmas. Are you ready for Christmas tomorrow? All the shopping done? All the presents wrapped? I think we're ready here. About the only thing left to do, is for Linda to prepare the food she is taking to the dinner tomorrow, and she won't do that until sometime tomorrow. (The dinner is at 3:00 PM.)
Weather-wise, yesterday was not good around here. I couldn't believe how windy it was. Usually wind doesn't bother me much while I'm parked, but it sure rocked me around this time. The people on the TV are saying that at times there were gusts of over 60 mph!! I believe it!! They're also saying that there were quite a few outside Christmas decorations damaged from the wind.
Jim and Linda didn't do much yesterday. In fact, I think Jim was only outside for a few minutes to get something out of the back of CLT. Today, Jim wants to go to the Post Office and check on their mail. It sure would be nice if it's there. Then, if the weather is OK, we could leave here Friday, and head further East and get down to a lower elevation, where it's not quite as cold.
Tonight, just before you go to bed, take a moment to remember what Christmas is really about. Count your blessing, and give that special someone in your life a big hug. Then, as you are sleeping, you may have "visions of sugar-plums", dancing in your head. ;-)
Did you know that the poinsettia, traditionally an American Christmas flower, originally grew in Mexico; where it was know as the "Flower of the Holy Night"?

A Quiet Weekend and Illinois?
Lathrop, CA El. 20'
41 deg. clear, S. winds @ 4 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 63 deg. partly cloudy, W. winds @ 5 to 10 mph.
Not too much happened around here yesterday. All of the weekend campers left, and now there's only about 10 other RVs in the park. You know, for a county park on the weekend, it was pretty quiet. Oh sure, there were a few making some noise, but they were down at the other end of the park. The biggest problem I had was some kids walking through my site, but considering what some other parks that I have been in were like, that was minor.
This area of California kind of reminds me of Illinois. Here in the San Joaquin Valley, the terrain is very flat, it is farm land, and you can see for miles, just like central IL. I don't know what kind of crops they grow here, but if there were a few corn and bean fields scattered around, it would be hard to tell the difference.
Today, our journey will take us farther South. I think Jim is planning on getting down to the Bakersfield area today, but that could change.
Did you know that California produces more than 17 million gallons of wine each year?

9-11, Shopping, and Heading West
Pagosa Springs, CO. El. 7126'
38 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 67 deg. mostly cloudy, 40% chance of showers, SW winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
9-11 Do you remember that day? I hope you do, and I hope you never forget! I know I will never forget. I can still see that 2nd plane crashing into the Trade Center, and then, watching as the 2 towers came crashing down, killing all of those people. Then, we found out about the Pentagon and those other people in Pennsylvania!! We must never forget or let down our guard. It could happen again!!!
Yesterday was shopping day for Jim and Linda. On the way into town they found a produce stand where they bought some sweet corn and some other vegetables. Then they stopped at a neat little store where they found some nice gift items to use for Christmas presents. The next stop was at a bakery where they picked up some bread and a few other items. The final stop was at the City Market store for groceries they have used since we have been here.
Whew, I'm tired just writing about it!
Oh, after all that shopping, they also checked out a gas station to make sure there was enough room for Jim to get me in and out of it. That's good, because I haven't had a drink of good old #2 since way back in Texas, and I'm getting thirsty!!
Today, we'll continue heading West. I don't know just how far we'll get, but it's time to head someplace where we'll be at a lower elevation. It's starting to get pretty chilly, especially at night, up here at the 7000' level.
