A 2 Hour Drive, Southern Aire, and Happy Hour

Thonotosassa, FL.
28 deg. clear, no wind
Forecast today = high temp. 65 deg. partly cloudy, NE winds @ 5 to 10 mph.

I really expected it to be colder this morning. It was 32 deg. last nigh at about 11:00, but for some reason, the temps didn't drop much lower than that.

After it warmed up a little yesterday morning, Jim went out and got me unhooked from the utilities, and by 10:30 we were pulling out of the CG in Orange City. From the CG, we hopped right on I-4, (about 1/4 mile away), and took it SW, through Orlando and Lakeland, and to exit #10 where we turned to the North and followed Rt. 579 for about 4 miles to the Southern Aire RV Resort.

The trip went well, with no delays going through the 2 cities, and by about 12:30 we were pulling into the park. So, it took us almost exactly 2 hours to travel 110 miles.

Denny and Bev must have been watching for me because right after we pulled into the park, Denny came out to the parking area to greet us. Then in a few minutes Dave came over too. It sure was good to see them again.

After registering me, Jim unhooked CLT and drove me around the block to get me headed the right way to get into site #118. 118 is a little tricky to get into, (there's a tree at the front of the site), but by using my mirrors and with some help from one of the park workers and Denny, Jim got me backed in without any problems.

About 4:00 Jim went down to Gordy's site, (just across the street and down a few sites), for happy hour. Every day, the Illinois Bunch get together for a cold one or two, and sit in a circle and talk, laugh and in general, have a good time. The happy hour is not just for the Illinois Bunch though, anyone is welcome, and other people that are staying in the park come and join in from time to time.

For dinner, Linda cooked fish, asparagus, and some noodles. Everything sure smelled good, and Jim said it tasted good too. After eating Jim took a nap, and then they both watched TV until after the news was over.

So, this is where I'll be for the next 2 weeks. The weather is suppose to get warmer, the people here are friendly, and the "Illinois Bunch" are all here. What more could you ask for? :-)

Did you know that the word Thonotosassa comes from the Seminole-Creek words "thlonto" and "sasses", meaning the place was a source of valuable flint?
