Thonotosassa, FL.
50 deg. cloudy, light NW wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 59 deg. mostly cloudy, NW wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
It was a cold and blustery day in Thonotosassa yesterday. The temperatures got up to the low 60's, but with the wind blowing, it didn't feel anywhere near that warm. :-(
So...... not a whole lot of time was spent outside and in fact most of the people must have felt that way because the whole park seemed pretty quiet.
About 10:30, Jim went over to Dave's and found out that Dee Dee seemed to be doing a little better. Dave said that they had her up and were trying to get her moving around some, but she still had a lot of pain, and was constantly feeling sick to her stomach. We haven't heard anything else since then, but I imagine Jim will try to find out more this morning.
For dinner last night, Jim, Linda, Denny, Gordy and Dorthy went to a Chinese buffet restaurant over in Seffner, FL. (Bev didn't feel like going out so Denny brought some food back here for her). Jim and Linda had been there with the "Illinois Bunch" before and like the last time, the food was very good, the conversation was lively, and the company was great! ;-)
It's too bad that Dave, Dee Dee, and Bev couldn't have been there too. :-(
After they got back here, Jim and Linda watched some British comedies and then the News on TV before heading off to bed.
Did you know that the name "The Super Bowl" was originally suggested by Lamar Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, after watching his daughter play with a Super Ball, (A small high bouncing ball, very popular at that time)?
Hang in there Dee Dee!!!!!

Not Much To Report and A Storm.
Thonotosassa, FL.
58 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today= high temp. 68 deg. mostly sunny, W. wind @ 10 to 15 mph W/20 mph gusts.
Not much to report on Dee Dee's recovery. Jim talked to Dave yesterday morning as he was leaving to go to the hospital to see her, and he said that she was still in a lot of pain and didn't seem to be doing too well. :-(
Hopefully the news will be better today.
Linda did a load of laundry yesterday and then spent a couple of hours visiting with Bev over at their Motor Home. Then for dinner, she heated up some left-over spaghetti and beef.
About noon yesterday, the weather people started talking about some possible severe weather heading into this area, so Jim and Denny went over to Dave and Dee Dee's site and secured some of the items they had sitting outside. Dave's got enough to worry about with Dee Dee. He doesn't need to have to worry about his lawn chairs and stuff blowing away.
About 2:30 or 3:00 the storms hit this area. There were tornado watches and warnings for our area, but we didn't have and real strong winds right here at the park. Just a few miles from here at the State Fair though, they had some tents blown down and some people were injured. We did have some very heavy rain though.
Today, I have no idea what's going on. I know that Jim wants to dump my tanks, and from the heavy rain, a bunch of sand washed on top of the patio mat by my door, so that needs to be cleaned off.
Did you know that out of 20,000 species of bees, only 4 make honey?

A Busy Day With Lots Of Company
Thonotosassa, FL.
64 deg. cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 78 deg. mostly cloudy and breezy with a 40% chance of t-storms this afternoon. S. winds @ 15 to 20 mph with 35 mph gusts.
Dave stopped by for a little while yesterday morning and brought Jim and Linda up to date on Dee Dee's condition. From what he said, for a little while, it was touch and go with Dee Dee when she was being operated on. Evidently the bleeding was quite bad and she lost a lot of blood before they could get in there to get it stopped. He said that the doctor told him that she almost bled to death!!! She's now in a regular room and seems to be doing OK, but is in a lot of pain.
I hope she gets better real soon.
While Dave was here, Denny came over and sat out under my awning with Dave and Jim and then in a little while, Gordy came over and joined them too. Dave couldn't stay long as he wanted to get to the hospital to be with Dee Dee, but was able to update everyone on her health.
In the afternoon, Terry, (a friend of Denny's, from Illinois, who has a house down here in FL.), and his wife, came to visit Denny and Bev. Well, Jim knew Terry too, from years ago, so Denny and Terry stopped by and sat out under my awning for awhile. While they were here, Gordy came back over and then in a little while a man named Wally stopped by too. (He is also originally from Illinois and now has a place down here in this park).
They all sat under my awning for at least an hour and talked. :-)
After they left, Jim decided to take a little nap before going over to Gordy's for "Happy Hour". This time he didn't sleep too long and made it over there in plenty of time. ;-)
After "Happy Hour", Jim came back here and cooked a couple of burgers on his grill, while Linda got chips and a desert ready inside of me.
After Dinner, Denny knocked on my door and wanted to know if Jim would like to ride along to the Winn Dixie store with him. He and Bev needed a few groceries and thought Jim might like to go along. Well,,,, Jim always likes to be with Denny, so he put on his hat and they headed to the store.
When they got back, Jim put away a most of the stuff outside and rolled up my main awning as it was starting to get windy, and they are forecasting strong and gusty winds for today. Then it was TV again until bedtime.
Did you know that it was on this date in 1952 that the first "Don't Walk" sign in the nation, was installed in New York City?
Get well, Dee Dee. We're all pulling for you!!! :-)

A Few Photos, Visiting, and Pizza
Thonotosassa, FL
51 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 76 deg. partly cloudy, breezy with E. winds @ 10 to 15 mph.
.
The only news I've heard about Dee Dee is that she is out of intensive care and into a room. It is expected that she will be staying at the hospital for a total of at least 5 days. :-( I sure hope she gets better soon so she can come here to the park and recover.
.
Jim took a few photos yesterday morning, (I was beginning to think he forgot how to use his camera), of my site and the park. Here are a couple of them. In the first one, you can see that I don't have any shade at all. The tree in the photo is actually behind me and to the North, so it doesn't shade my site at all.
This next photo shows how short this site is. I'm backed up as far as I can, and my front bumper is still only about 4 feet from the road.
Actually the site is not too bad because I do fit OK and I'm very close to Denny and Bev's RV and Linda is able to get over there without having to walk too far.

For the 2 weeks that we'll be here, it'll be fine. :-)
.
Linda did go over and visit with Bev yesterday. Bev has a real tough time with stairs, so she doesn't get out too much, and it seems like she really likes it when people come to visit. Linda was over there for quite awhile, so they must have had a good time. :-)
.
Denny and Gordy came over and sat under my awning for awhile and visited with Jim. It was really nice out there, but the weather was kind of strange. When you were sitting in the sun, it was very warm, in fact almost too warm. But......if you moved into the shade, there was a little breeze blowing and soon you were chilly!
.
Like I said, kind of strange.
.
Jim rode his bike some yesterday, talked to some of the neighbors, and took a long nap in the afternoon. In fact his nap was so long, that he missed "happy hour" over at Gordy's. :-(
.
Earlier in the day, it had been decided that Denny and Bev and Jim and Linda would get together over at Denny's RV to eat Pizza for dinner. This has become kind of a tradition every time we're down here. So.... about 5:30 Jim walked over to Denny's and they headed over to Howie's Pizza and picked up a pizza that Bev had ordered. By the time they got back, Bev had made salads to go with the pizza, Linda was on her way over there and they all enjoyed a good meal together.
.
About 8:00 Jim and Linda came back here and then they watched a National Park program on TV until bedtime.

Did you know that according to the Guinness Book of Records, the largest pizza made was made in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was 122' 8" in diameter. It was made on Dec 8, 1990.

Dee Dee's Surgery and Setting Me Up
Thonotosassa, FL.
52 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 72 deg. partly cloudy, NE winds @ 5 mph.
I guess that big news is that Dee Dee had her gallbladder surgery yesterday. They were supposed to do it by making a couple of small incisions, but she developed what they are calling a "bleeder", and they had to make a large incision to go in to take out the gallbladder and stop the bleeding. The last I heard, (as of last night), she was in intensive care. Hopefully I'll hear more on her condition/progress today.
Not a whole lot happened here in the park yesterday. It rained all morning and didn't stop until after lunch. Once it stopped, Jim went out finished getting me set up by hooking up my water and sewer hoses, putting out my main awning and digging the patio rug out of my basement compartment. Then, with Denny's help, put the rug under my awning and if front of my steps to try to slow down the tracking of sand into me.
Oh, and Jim also got his bike out of the back of CLT and used it to take the garbage to the dumpster and then take a ride around the park. About 4:00 he and Denny went over to Gordy and Dorothy's Motor Home for "Happy Hour".
While Jim was doing his thing, Linda was busy with computer stuff and a new embroidery project. For dinner she made a chicken casserole and some cornbread muffins.
The evening was spent watching "Lost" on TV and then going to bed after the news.
Did you know that it was on this date in 1959 that Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. Richardson, (the "Big Bopper"), were killed in a plane crash?
Both Jim and Linda say they remember that day well.
We're thinking about you, Dee Dee. Get well soon! :-)

Orange City To Thonotosassa, CG Problems and Dee Dee
Thonotosassa, FL.
63 deg. cloudy, light fog, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 73 deg. possible showers this morning, partly sunny this afternoon, W. wind @ 5 to 10 mph.
Happy Groundhog Day!!!!
Yesterday morning, by the time Jim pulled me out of my site, got CLT (Cute Little Truck) hooked up to the back of me, and we pulled out Orange City RV Resort, it was 9:25. We then got on I-4 and headed SW towards Orlando and Tampa. The traffic was moderate to heavy but I didn't mind, because it felt so good to be back out on the road and watching the pavement pass under me. :-)
Oh, and within a few miles my tires stopped itching too!!! ;-)
The rain held off until we got through Orlando, but soon after we passed through the city, it started raining fairly hard. Then, about 15 or 20 miles before we got to the Tampa area, it slowed to just a mist. There was only one place in Orlando where the traffic even slowed down some, but other than that, the whole trip down I-4 went very well.
It never ceases to amaze me the way some people drive. Right in the middle of Orlando, there was this guy that thought he was Kyle Bush. (A NASCAR race car driver, for those of you that don't know the name). He was changing lanes and darting between cars, in a very heavy traffic section, and sometimes it looked like he had only a few feet between him and the car he was pulling in front of. Now, we were going the speed limit at this time, and if he had made just the slightest mistake or misjudged the distance, there would have been a huge pile-up!
There were other drivers doing crazy things out there too, but this guy was the worst. I guess they think that they can get to their destination a little faster by driving like that. I think that they'll just get to the hospital faster and cause some other people to have to go there too. :-(
OK, back to yesterday's trip.
When we got down to Exit #10, we turned off of I-4 and onto Rt 579 and pulled into the T A Truck stop. It had been way back in November since I had my last drink and I was getting very thirsty! Jim didn't fill me completely up, but I got a nice big drink.
Boy! That good old #2 diesel fuel really tasted good.
After getting my drink, we continued North on Rt 579 for about 4 miles until we came to Thonotosassa and the Southern Aire RV Resort. It was about 11:40 when we pulled up in front of the office, so it had taken us about 2 hours and 15 minutes to travel 110 miles and stop and get my drink.
Not too bad.
As we pulled into the parking area by the office, I realized that the other RV waiting there was no other than Denny and Bev's Winnebago Brave!!! Denny is one of the "Illinois Bunch" that we come here to see, and they had just pulled in too! Jim went into the office to register me, and in a short time, came back out and unhooked CLT from the back of me.
Now, this is where the fun began!!! You see, the site that I was supposed to have was occupied and so the lady in the office assigned me the site right next to it. Well, that would have been OK, but when Jim tried to back me into the site, there was not enough room between a tree and the cement patio, (which is raised up about 4" higher than the ground) to get me in. With the help of the Park workers, he tried several different angles to get me back through there, but it just wasn't going to happen.
Now, the question was, what other sites were available? Well, Jim and the workers went back to the office and they finally found a site that I would fit into, but it only has 30 amp electric service and is almost too short for me. Well, being that the only other choice was to be way over by the fence and along side of Rt 579, Jim decided to take the shorter site.
The workers helped Jim get me backed into the site, and it's going to be OK, but it's not nearly as nice as the site I was supposed to have. The workers were upset because they thought that the office should have made the other people move, but to be honest, that has been a problem before at this park. Even though you reserve a site well in advance and put money down on it, they don't always save the site for you.
I think that is wrong, and if it wouldn't have been that we really wanted to be at this park to be with the "Illinois Bunch", I think Jim would have asked for his money back, and we would have gone to a different park!
I know this is getting long, but I've got one more thing that I need to tell you about. Dave and Dee Dee are back down here, (after Dee Dee's mother's funeral), and Sunday night, Dee Dee got a severe pain in her stomach. In fact it was so bad that Dave took her to the hospital. Well, come to find out, it's her gall bladder and she is going to have to have surgery to have it removed!!! So, this afternoon, she will have the operation and hopefully everything will go well.
I don't think she needs this right now! :-(

No Rest But Ready To Go
Orange City, FL.
52 deg. mostly cloudy, NE wind @ 5 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 67 deg. mostly cloudy, rain this afternoon, E. wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
I didn't rest at all last night. These itchy tires are just about to drive me crazy!!! I sure will be glad when Jim and Linda get ready to head out of here.
Jim has almost everything outside of me ready to go. About the only things that are left to do is to unhook the cable TV cable, and unhook and put away the electric cord. Then it will just be a matter of pulling me out of this site and hooking CLT to the back of me. :-)
Inside of me there's still some stuff to be put away and all of my cabinet doors and drawers will have to be checked to make sure they're closed properly. I don't think that will take too long, so hopefully we can get out of here by about 9:00 or 9:30.
The weather doesn't look to good for travel today. On the TV they're already saying that there is light rain in the area and by the radar, it looks like I'll be getting into some rain along the way. I don't really mind a little rain, but I'd rather go through Orlando, with all it's traffic, on dry roads if I could.
Last night, Jim and Linda went out to eat with Laura, Lindsey, Ashley and Travis, (Ashley's boyfriend) at the Perkins restaurant. Everything went smooth at the restaurant and they had a great time talking and laughing with everyone. Then, it was time for hugs, handshakes, and good-bye's before Jim and Linda came back here.
Well, I gotta go!!! My tires are itching and I need to be sure to be ready the second that Jim turns my key to start my engine.
Did you know that today is "Spunky Old Broads Day"?
