Virginia Beach, VA.
54 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 82 deg. sunny, SW wind @ 10 to 15 mph.
Yesterday morning, Jim took his bike for a ride, and then when he came back, he started digging around in my basement compartments, looking for something. He finally seemed to find what he was looking for and then came in and looked at my dash area like he was trying to figure something out. After awhile he seemed satisfied and went back outside and relaxed in his lawn chair.
Right after lunch, he and Linda took CLT (Cute Little Truck), and headed over to the Harris Teeter grocery store. Jim wanted a certain kind of lunch meat that he couldn't find at the Farm Fresh store the other day, and Linda wanted to pick up some hamburger, some mushroom soup, and rice to make a meatball dish for tonight. That didn't take them too long and soon they were back here.
I don't know what got into Jim yesterday, but for some reason he was ambitious. I should have known he was up to something when he was digging around in my basement compartments and then studying my dash area. Well, I finally found out what he was up to.
You see, I have one cigarette lighter type plug on my dash that only works when the ignition key is turned on, and into that, with the help of a 3 way splitter, was plugged a 12 volt electric cooler (to use for water and drinks while we are traveling down the road), and Mable, (the GPS unit).
Well, the cords for these things were draped across the center part of my dash, plus the 3 way splitter was lying on top of the dash, and it wasn't very attractive or handy. Plus, like I said, the whole thing was only powered when my ignition key was turned on, and it's power source was my engine starting batteries.
So, the first thing he did was to install another lighter type outlet under my dash on the drivers side, run wires over to the passenger side of my dash, permanently install the 3 way splitter over there, and then run a new wire to a junction block where he hooked the new outlets up to my house batteries.
Now, any 12 volt electrical item can be plugged into this system, (that is hooked up to the house batteries that are constantly being recharged any time I'm plugged into electric), the mess is gone off of the top of my dash, and I don't have to worry about the appliance or whatever, draining my engine starting batteries when we've been sitting somewhere for a long time.
By the time Jim was done with all of this, it was time for dinner. Being that Joe and his family were busy, Jim cooked a big old pork chop on his grill, (that he and Linda shared), and Linda prepared some baked beans and cauliflower on my stove. That, along with some french bread that they had bought at the grocery store, made a very good meal. :-)
After dinner, Joe and Nancy came home and after getting a bite to eat, came out and visited with Jim and Linda for awhile. It was nice having them out here for a change. After they went inside, Jim and Linda watched TV until bedtime.

Cool Weather For April and Not Much Happening
Virgina Beach, VA.
41 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 72 deg. sunny, W. wind @ 10 mph.
The weather around here has been cool for this time of year. Yesterday I don't think it got above 65 all day, and the wind was constantly blowing fairly hard. From what I remember from other years, it should be warmer around here the last part of April.
Not much happened yesterday. Jim went to Lowe's in the morning and bought some fluorescent light bulbs, (2 for a light in the bedroom, and 2 to have on hand), and some plastic looking things that he glued to the bottom of the legs of one of my kitchen chairs. You see, the old pads on the bottom of the chair legs were getting worn out, and the chair was starting to make marks on the floor. :-(
In the afternoon, Jim rode his bike and read some, while Linda worked on her embroidery project and entered a few recipes in her database. Then for dinner they went into the house and ate a kind of taco thing that Nancy put together. I didn't really figure out just what it was, but it had something to do with Frito's and all the fixin's that you make tacos with.
After eating, they all watched TV and visited for awhile and then about 9:00, Jim and Linda came back out here and fooled around with the computers and watched TV until bedtime.
Not a very exciting day, but a good one. ;-)

All Straightened Out and A Comment On A Comment
Virgina Beach, VA.
42 deg. clear, N. wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 64 deg. sunny and breezy, with NW wind @ 15 to 20 mph.
Good news!!! The pharmacist at the Walgreen's here in Virginia Beach got Linda's prescriptions straightened out!! He called the Walgreen's in Deltona, FL. where Linda had taken the scripts from the doctor, and told them that there should be another prescription for Linda that was not on the computer. Well, they went through that days scripts and found it! Evidently someone had missed it and had not entered it. So, they put it into the computer and then the pharmacist here was able to fill it. The whole process took about 1/2 an hour, but now everything should be OK. :-)
After finishing at Walgreen's, CLT took Jim and Linda to a bank where they got some extra cash to have with them while we travel. When we're traveling, most all businesses take credit cards, but once in awhile you need cash. So, they've found it best to have a fairly large sum of money along.
I keep it nice and safe for them in my built in safe. :-)
For dinner, Jim and Linda went into the house and ate leftovers from the great meals that Nancy has prepared the last few days. There was plenty for everyone, and Jim and Linda both said that it all tasted very good. Then, after eating, they visited with Joe and Nancy for awhile before coming back out here and watching TV until bedtime.
Yesterday, Paul and Shirley left a comment on this blog. In the comment, they said that they liked my blog and wish they had the nerve to start one of their own.
Well, I'd like to encourage them and any other of my readers to go ahead and start one as soon as possible. I found it was very easy to do with Blogger. I think most people are afraid that they won't be able to think of things to write about, or they don't think what they write about will be interesting to the readers.
When I started this blog, it was strictly to inform family and a few friends about our travels, and to let them know where we were. You see, every time Jim or Linda talked to them on the phone, some of the first questions were, "Where are you now?" and "What have you been doing?" So, to keep everyone informed, the blog was started. It also turned out to be kind of like a Journal for Jim and Linda to look back on, to see what happened on certain days or in certain places.
It really makes me happy to know that other people find it interesting as well, and I really enjoy it when people write and tell me that they do. I know that what I write doesn't appeal to everyone, but that's OK. It was never meant to
As for what to write about, many times when I fire this computer up in the morning, I don't have the slightest idea of what I'm going to say. I just start with where we are, (I don't know why anyone cares, but they all seem to ask), the weather, and then go on to what happened since I last posted. Once in awhile, I come up with funny or strange things, but most times I just write about our adventures, or in many cases the lack of adventure. If things go wrong or right, I write about that, If something bothers me, or I'm worried about something, that's included. And if Jim takes some photos, I try to include some of them also.
So, go ahead and start that blog. You don't have to post every day. Just write about what's happening in you life. And, when you do start the blog, be sure to send me the info on how to get onto it, so I can follow along. :-)

Grocery Shopping, A Storm, and Plans
Virginia Beach, VA.
55 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 66 deg. mostly cloudy, possible showers and t-storms this afternoon, NW wind @ 15 to 20 mph.
By 11:00 Jim and Linda were out of my door and getting into CLT (Cute Little Truck), to head over to the Farm Fresh grocery store. I don't know what happens, but every time they go grocery shopping, they come back with more items than were on their list. I saw the list before they left, and it wasn't that big, but when they came back, they just kept carrying bag after bag of groceries into me, so I know they bought more than was on there.
After much shuffling around, they finally found room for all the groceries, but I'm sure glad I won't be traveling for awhile, cause I'm not sure all the cabinet doors would stay shut. ;-)
For dinner, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed over to the Atlas Grill and Bar, which is not far from here, and had a very nice meal. The food is always good there with friendly service, so they always go there at least once every time we're in the area. It's another one of those places where the locals go.
We had quite a storm go through the area yesterday evening. Lots of thunder and lightning, and some pretty strong winds. In fact, being that we are right here in Joe's driveway, just before it hit, Jim and Linda went into the house after making sure I was all "buttoned down" for a storm. It didn't get real bad here, but there was some minor damage not too far away.
This afternoon, Jim and Linda have to head back to Walgreen's to hopefully pick up the rest of Linda's prescriptions. Other than that, I have no idea what's going on today.
I guess I'll just have to wait to see what happens.
Oh, I almost forgot, Jim called Mike in Apex, NC yesterday, and told him when he thought we would be getting there. You see, that's where we'll be heading after we leave here so Jim thought it might be a good idea to let him know what our plans were. :-)
The way it looks right now, (and all these plans are written in pencil), we'll be getting to the Jordan Lake State Recreation Area, (which is not far from Mike and Gina's house), on the 7th of May, and will be staying there for 2 weeks. I like the Jordan Lake SRA because it was originally built by the Corps of Engineer's with nice wooded sites, and some of them even overlooking the lake. And, being that the camping season really hasn't started yet, it'll be real nice and quiet, especially during the middle part of the week.

The Weather? and A Few Photos
Virginia Beach, VA.
66 deg. partly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 77 deg. partly cloudy, 40% chance of a t-storm, SW wind @ 15 to 20 mph.
I don't know about this weather forecast. Yesterday, they were forecasting a 70% chance of t-storms and possible heavy rain, and I think we had 13 drops of rain all day. Now, today, they're forecasting a 40% chance of t-storms, so I'm wondering if we'll even have any clouds? I've talked about this before, but I'm still wondering how someone can keep their job with such a low percentage of accuracy? I know that If my mechanic did even 30% of the work on me wrong, Jim wouldn't take me back there again, but I'm sure that some of these weather people are only right about 50% of the time. :-(
Since the weather was so nice yesterday, Jim rode his bike some, helped Joe get the above ground pool in the back yard ready for use, and took a few photos of the beautiful azaleas that the neighbor down the street has. They're in full bloom right now, and many people in this area have them planted in their yards.
He also took this photo of Sami, lying on the floor and doing some drawing for a school project.
This one of Joe, talking to Linda.
And this one of Sarah.
She's a good old dog. :-)
I'm sure that soon, he'll get photos of Nancy and Amber too, but hasn't had the chance so far.
The rest of the day was spent visiting with Joe and his family, watching TV and eating another delicious meal that Nancy prepared.
Did you know that over 10,000 different Azalea plants have been registered or named?

Prescriptions, My New Counter and Thank You!!!
Virginia Beach, VA.
62 deg. cloudy, no wind.
Forecast today = high temp. 79 deg. mostly cloudy with a 75% chance of strong t-storms. SW wind @ 10 to 15 mph with 25 to 35 mph gusts.
If the temperature does get up to the predicted 79 deg today, it will be almost 20 degrees warmer than it was yesterday. It was suppose to get into the middle to upper 60's yesterday, but my thermometer never got over 61 deg.
About the only thing that happened around here yesterday was that Jim and Linda took CLT and went to Walgreen's to get Linda's prescriptions filled. Again, there were a couple of glitches. The first one Linda's not worried about, it's just that they didn't have enough of one of the medicines, but will have it by Tuesday. The second one could end up being more of a problem. It seems that when Linda took her scripts into the Walgreen's in Deltona, FL, somehow, one of the prescriptions didn't get entered into the computer, so now when this pharmacist looked it up, it wasn't there. He said that Linda shouldn't worry and he would get it straightened out, but Linda's not so sure.
I sure hope it works out. Linda really gets up tight about her meds anyway, and doesn't need this extra hassle. :-(
By the time they were done at Walgreen's, neither Linda or Jim felt like going to the grocery store, so they came back here and watched some TV and relaxed. Then for dinner, they just went over to a Hardee's and got something to eat there.
We didn't see anything of Joe, Nancy or the girls at all yesterday. Well, I did see them coming and going from the house to the car a few times, but that's all. I think that today, things will be a little calmer, and maybe everyone will be able to visit some more.
Oh, did you notice the new "hit counter" that I have installed on this blog? It's on the left side of the post and I think it's kind of neat. It tells me what country the people are in that are viewing the blog and how many different people there were from that country. And, it also tells me the total number of times the blog has been looked at. As of right now, (6:30 AM), it's telling me that 101 different people from the US and 2 different people from Canada, have looked at this blog since noon on Friday. It also tells me that those 103 people have looked at the blog 162 times. :-)
I really didn't know that so many people were looking at this blog that often.
Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!!!
