Garibaldi to Yachats, and a Great Site.

Yachats, OR. (pronounced "Yaw hots") El. 45 '
53 deg. overcast, showers, S. wind @ 5 mph.
Forecast today = high temp. 55 deg. showers, SW winds @ 10 to 20 mph.

It wasn't raining when we left Garibaldi yesterday morning at about 9:45, but it sure looked like it was going to. We got back on US 101 and continued our journey South. The road was about the same as it was North of Garibaldi with lots of twists and turns, hills, and rough spots. Again though, the scenery was spectacular!! There were lots of ocean views, and neat little towns along the route. The going was slow, but even after pulling into some of the scenic overlooks for better views, by 12:45 we were pulled into the Sea Perch RV Park which is about 6 miles South of Yachats.

So, we were on the road for 3 hours and covered 111 miles. Not too bad.

The photo below was taken by Jim as he stood right along side of me. We are parked with my front end facing the ocean and the view is terrific! I am probably about 50 yards from the water's edge. Now if it would only quit raining, it would be much nicer.

This is a pretty nice park with cement parking slabs, lots of grass, and 8 other sites have the same view as I have. Maybe it's because of the weather, or the season, but when we got here, there were no other RVs in the park, (except for a few way up by the road that appear to be permanent). In fact only 1 other RV pulled into the park yesterday, and it is parked 3 sites to my left.

I'm posting this on a very weak Wi Fi signal from the CG. It's free, but very weak out here close to the ocean. So, I'm hoping that I can get this entry posted before the signal drops out, like it did a couple of times yesterday.

Did you know that the name Yachats is a Siletz tribe word that means "at the foot of the mountain"?

  1. We stayed at Sea Perch several years ago & it certainly is beautiful. Your blog brings back nice memories even though we had about the same weather you're having. Enjoy your stay! Hugs, Doug & JoAnn Dubrouillet
